Who May Participate

  • Active duty/Reserve military members/ Retirees
  • DoD civilians
  • Dependents (Minor dependents (12-18 years old) are eligible with guardian/military sponsor)
  • EVERYONE signs the Hold Harmless Waiver (guardians must sign for minor dependents)

What:  Weapons Training Battalion Recreational Firing (Rec Fire)

Where:  Calvin A. Lloyd Ranges: Ironman Range /Range 1 

When:   Fridays (1100-1500)


Why:  “Every Marine is a rifleman”; however, our ability to conduct marksmanship training (especially in the NCR) with personal firearms is significantly challenged.  Rec Fire will allow greater marksmanship opportunities for those stationed in the NCR. 

  • Shooters may bring their own backing, targets, pasties, and staples 
  • Range supplies are available at a nominal fee
  • Firearm and Ammo safety/function and brass police are the responsibility of the participant.
  • Pistols up to .50, Rifles up to .50,  Shotguns up to 12ga, and black powder are authorized.
  • Up to 50 firing points will be used and based on availability of the PSO's.
  • Transportation of all weapons and ammunition to WTBN must comply with MCB Quantico Order 5501, Control and Use of Privately-Owned Firearms and Other Weapons.
  • Rec-fire will never be conducted at the expense of the mission essential training.  The CO WTBN may cancel or change the schedule if conflicts with military training arise.
