SARC MESSAGE

1.  Sexual Assault is a crime that is not restricted to any gender, race, or age.  It is defined by the Department of Defense as intentional sexual contact characterized by the use of force, threats, intimidation, or abuse of authority or when the victim does not or cannot consent.

2.  The Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) provides an integrated response capability and system accountability for all awareness, prevention and response training, and care for adult sexual assault victims. SARCs facilitate victim care by coordinating medical treatment, including emergency care, and tracking the services provided to victims of sexual assault from initial report through final disposition and resolution.

 SOI-W SAPR MEDIA

Heather Guerrero, the regional sexual assault prevention and response coordinator for Marine Corps Installations West, explains the mission of the SAPR program on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, April 5, 2022. The SAPR program on Camp Pendleton is focused on addressing the needs of military members and their families who have been victims of sexual assault and provide relevant training on a regular basis to Marines and sailors across the base. The SAPR office is located in the Marine and Family Program Headquarters building of the 13 Area on Camp Pendleton. There is never a wrong time to report a crime such as sexual assault, it is the job of every member aboard the base to speak up for survivors and speak out against sexual assault. Around the Corps, the Marine Corps SAPR team is available 24/7 to receive calls on their respective installation's helpline. The DOD Safe Helpline can be reached at 877-995-5247. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Lance Cpl. Dylon Grasso)
