Lieutenant Colonel Christopher A. Denver

Lieutenant Colonel Denver is from San Antonio, TX. He graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in Criminal Justice, specializing in Criminal Law. He was commissioned in May of 2004 through the Platoon Leaders Course, and reported to The Basic School, Quantico, Virginia. He was selected in the MV-22B initial accession pipeline out of primary flight training in June of 2006, and was designated a Naval Aviator in July of 2007.

In March of 2008, Lieutenant Colonel Denver reported to VMM-263, MCAS New River, North Carolina, for service as an MV-22B pilot.  He deployed with VMM-263 (REIN), 22D Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in May of 2009 as the first MV-22 Composite Air Combat Element (ACE), and then again on the 22D MEU from March of 2011 to February of 2012.  As a pilot in VMM-263, Lieutenant Colonel Denver served as the Adjutant, Airframes Officer in Charge, Weapons and Tactics Instructor, and Pilot Training Officer.  He graduated as the honor graduate from The Naval Justice School’s Legal Officer Course in 2008, Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course in 2011, and the Expeditionary Warfare School in 2012.

In June of 2012, Lieutenant Colonel Denver reported to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron-One (MAWTS-1), MCAS Yuma, Arizona, where he served as an MV-22B Instructor, MV-22 Training and Readiness Syllabus Sponsor, Air Defense Artillery subject matter expert (SME), and as the Non-Combatant Evacuation SME.  He completed the Command and Staff distance education program from the Marine Corps University in 2014.

Upon completion of his tour as a MAWTS-1 Instructor in May of 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Denver reported to VMM-265, Okinawa, Japan.  While with the “Dragons” he served as the ACE Operations Officer, Maintenance Officer, and the Executive Officer.  He deployed four times on the 31st MEU 15.2, 16.1, 17.2, and 18.1 participating in Exercises SSang Yong in South Korea as well as Talisman Sabre in Australia.  In addition he deployed multiple times in the Pacific area of operations to include a Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief mission in mainland Japan and numerous times to the Philippines.  He was awarded the Joe Foss Squadron, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Aviator of the Year award in 2017.

In May of 2018, Lieutenant Colonel Denver reported to Headquarter Marine Corps, Manpower Management and Officer Assignments-2 (MMOA-2), where he served as the Rotary-Wing Majors Monitor and the Deputy Aviation Lieutenant Colonel Monitor until January of 2021.  Following this assignment, Lieutenant Colonel Denver reported to The Basic School, Quantico, VA where he served as the Executive Officer until July of 2022.  Lieutenant Colonel Denver currently serves as the Executive Officer of Marine Aviation Training Support Group-22 (MATSG-22), Corpus Christi, Texas. 

Lieutenant Colonel Denver has accumulated over 2000 hours, including over 1500 hours in the MV-22B.  His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 gold stars), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal,  Humanitarian Service Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment (4 bronze stars), and the NATO ISAF/Afghanistan Medal.
