Sergeant Major Jonathan D Borders Battalion SgtMaj, Weapons Training Battalion

Sergeant Major Borders assumed his current position as the Weapons Training Battalion SgtMaj on September 4, 2020. A Native of Jefferson, Ga, he attended Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island South Carolina on November 1994.

 

Throughout his career, Sergeant Major Borders has been assigned to numerous duties to include: 3361 Subsistence Supply Clerk, Camp Geiger North Carolina; Subsistence Chief, Iwakuni Japan; Subsistence Chief and Chief Cook, First Recruit Training Battalion; Drill Instructor, Experienced Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor, Third Recruit Training Battalion, India Company; Helicopter Rope Suspension Training and Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor, Weapons Field Training Battalion; Chief Cook, Company Gunnery Sergeant Headquarters and Support Battalion, Camp Foster, Alpha Company, Camp Guard Reaction Team Chief, Company First Sergeant Bravo Company, Supply Chief; Assistant Marine Officer Instructor, Sergeant Instructor at Officer Candidate School; First Sergeant, 2nd Marine Logistic Group, Combat Logistic Battalion 6; First Sergeant 2nd Marine Division, Ground Combat Element Integrated Task Force(GCEITF); First Sergeant Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry, Delta Company; Sergeant Major Marine Attack Squadron 542, and currently Sergeant Major Marine Attack Training Squadron 203

 

He has deployed to Marine Corps Air Station, Iwakuni Japan; Marine Corps Base, Okinawa Japan; Deployed to Al Assad in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF-08) as S-4 Chief, Company Gunnery Sergeant and Substance Abuse Counselor; Deployed Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom(OEF-13) and Helmond Province as Company First Sergeant with Combat Logistic Battalion 6

 

SgtMaj Borders’ personnel decoration include the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (6th award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal
