Reserve Assault Amphibian Vehicle Commander Seminar (RAAVCS) introduces students to AAV leadership responsibilities with a focus on crew gunnery. This seminar builds upon foundational skills learned from Assault Amphibian Crewmember (AAC) Course, but with greater focus on direction and supervision. Students will gain familiarization with Global Command Support System - Marine Corps (GCSS-MC) to initiate and track maintenance and supply issues and requests, conduct mounted navigation with the use of the Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR), prepare an Assault Amphibious Vehicle Command, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability/Rebuild to Standard (AAVC7A1 RAM/RS), be able to send and receive reports, issue a fragmentary order, and conduct after action reports with their subordinates. Students also learn how to effectively employ their Upgunned Weapons Station (UGWS) and manage their crew during the conduct of gunnery operations. Graduates of this seminar will become more proficient in the required skills necessary to assume the responsibilities of an AAV family of vehicles (FOV) Vehicle Commander in support of mechanized operations.
RAAVCS is designed to develop the supervisory skills and gunnery proficiency expected of an AAV Vehicle Commander. Instructional areas shall focus specifically on: AAV maintenance, orders and reports, navigation, tactics, and gunnery. Students attending this seminar should be proficient in AAV fundamentals and crew responsibilities, associated UGWS machine guns, and basic land navigation. Students must demonstrate mastery of all instructional areas via written and performance examinations, and display leadership throughout the seminar to meet graduation requirements.

1. Government messing and billeting are available for all students.
2. Students will report to the command deck in the Service Alpha Uniform and have their seasonal Marine Pattern (MARPAT) Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform (MCCUU) ready for use. The physical training standard or cold weather uniform is required for the appropriate season. All field evolutions will be in the required fire retardant uniform with steel-toe boots. The basic issue of field gear is available at AAS supply for students stationed outside of the vicinity of Camp Pendleton.
3. The student is required to have their medical and dental records in their possession.
4. The student must be free of personal and medical problems that would interfere with their ability to complete the seminar.
5. Student must provide evidence of completion/certification of all prerequisite requirements.
6. Possess a copy of command screening checklist per MCO P1553.4B.

In order to attend this seminar, the student must have successfully completed the Assault Amphibian Crewmember Course (CID: M10AHY3).
(1) Must possess a GT score of 90 or higher.
(2) Must have vision correctable to 20/20.
(3) Must have normal color vision.
(4) Must be Gunnery Skills Test qualified.
