On behalf of Assault Amphibian School (AAS), it is my pleasure to welcome family and friends to the Community. The school is designed as the Center of Excellence for the Assault Amphibian Community which is a vibrant and diverse community filled with interesting and talented students, instructors, and staff. Our students and faculty hail from around the globe and bring an array of perspectives and experiences that foster professionalism, esprit de corps, and adapted warrior ethos.

The AAS mission to provide formally trained assault amphibian officers, enlisted crewmembers, and repairers to Marine Corps active and reserve component forces. In addition, we have developed and implemented a training continuum for the assault amphibian community to provide a better individual and Marine. AAS organizes events throughout the year that both further our mission and provide a close network of family and friends to support the Community. These events consist of ASYMCA Volunteer Recognition Ceremony (OCT), Trunk or Treat (OCT), Marine Corps Birthday Ball (NOV), Thanksgiving Events (NOV), Adopt-a-Marine, Yacht Club, Elks Lodge, Thanksgiving Meals (Reach out in September to Operation Homefront), and Family Day. If family members are interested in volunteering their time to support AAS they can contact the Unit Readiness Coordinator.  Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity to meet other parents and family and get involved in the Assault Amphibian Community.  We welcome your participation and assure you that it is a worthwhile endeavor that you will find personally rewarding and fun.

Again, welcome to the community and we look forward to meeting and working with you. More information in regard to the courses, area, and leadership information can be found throughout the AAS website.

Mission

The USMC Equal Opportunity (EO) Program seeks to ensure fair and equal treatment for all personnel regardless of race, gender, national origin, or religion.  Unlawful discriminatory practices within the Marine Corps, Training Command, and Assault Amphibian School (AAS) are counterproductive and unacceptable.  Discrimination, to include sexual harassment, undermines morale, reduces combat readiness, and prevents maximum utilization and development of Training Command's most vital asset, its people.  The policy of Training Command is to provide equality of treatment and the opportunity of all personnel to achieve their full potential based solely upon merit, fitness, and ability. This order outlines the AAS EO Program.

Policy

Prohibited discriminatory and harassment practices within the Marine Corps are counter-productive, unacceptable, and will not be tolerated. The Marine Corps will maintain a culture of dignity, care, and concern in which all members of the organization are afforded equal treatment and opportunity to achieve their full potential based upon individual merit, fitness, intellect, and ability.  All service members will cultivate an environment free from Prohibited Activities and Conduct (PAC). PAC undermines morale, reduce combat readiness, and prevent maximum utilization and development of the Marine Corps’ most vital asset: its people.

Commander's Intent

To implement an aggressive EO program, which will employ proactive measures to deter/reduce AAS's vulnerability to the potentially harmful effects of discrimination.  The guiding principles of this plan include improved individual/unit EO awareness, education, training, special emphasis programs, and climate assessments.  Efforts will produce the synergy necessary to allow AAS to improve its combat readiness.

Know Your Rights as a Federal Employee:
What can you do if you believe a "Prohibited Personnel Practice - PPP" has been committed?
Current and former federal employees, including probationary employees, and applicants for federal employment can file a written complaint with the U.S. Office of Special Counsel. Complaint forms are available on the Web at https://osc.gov.  Employees do not need attorneys to file a complaint. OSC is an independent and prosecutorial agency.  It will investigate allegations of prohibited personnel practices and seek the appropriate corrective and/or disciplinary action.
