Executive Officer
Maj Edward L. Yoo

A native of Bronxville, New York, Major Yoo graduated from Bowdoin College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Major Yoo was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in December of 2009 and attended The Basic School (TBS) and the Infantry Officer Course.

As an Infantry Officer, Major Yoo was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division in September 2010. During this tour, Major Yoo served as a Rifle Platoon Commander and Company Commander, Company A.  Additionally, Major Yoo served as the Assistant Operations Officer/Advisor for the 2-215 Security Force Assistance Advisor Team (SFA-AT). During his tour with 1st Battalion, 6th Marines and 2-215 SFA-AT, Major Yoo deployed twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

In March 2014, Major Yoo reported to the United States Army’s Maneuver Captains Career Course where he graduated on the Commandant’s List.

In September 2014, Major Yoo reported to Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST), Company A in Norfolk, Virginia where he served as a FAST Platoon Commander and Executive Officer.  During his tour with FAST Company A, Major Yoo deployed to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Naval Station Rota, Spain, in support of the United States Navy’s Sixth Fleet area of operations.

In June 2017, Major Yoo reported to 2d Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division for duty as Company Commander, Headquarters and Service Company.  Major Yoo deployed with 2d Battalion, 8th Marines as the Forward Deployed Battalion-East, 4th Marine Regiment, in support of Unit Deployment East 18.1.

In July 2019, Major Yoo reported to TBS and was assigned as the Maneuver Section Head, Warfighting Instructor Group.  In May 2020, Major Yoo assumed command of Company E, Basic Officer Course 5-20.  In December 2020, Major Yoo assumed command of Company I, Warrant Officer Basic Course 1-21. In June 2021, Major Yoo was assigned as the Executive Officer, Warfighting Instructor Battalion.
