Combat Instructor Battalion Sergeant Major
SgtMaj Beth E. Abbott

Sergeant Major Abbott was born on 31 March 1984 in Blanchard, MI. She enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 2003. She underwent recruit training at 4th Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC.
In March 2004, Lance Corporal Abbott completed Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, N.C., and Motor Vehicle Operator Course at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, where she earned her MOS as 3531 and 3533.
She was assigned to 3d Transportation Support Battalion Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan and shortly after that she was assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and deployed with 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines to Fallujah, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2. She was promoted to the rank of Corporal in March 2005.
In April 2006, Corporal Abbott reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 1, in Camp Pendleton, California where she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. She deployed to Al Asad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 5-7.
In July 2007, Sergeant Abbott reported to Drill Instructor School at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC, and began her tour as a Drill Instructor. In July 2009, Sergeant Abbott was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. During her tour, she served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Battalion Drill Master, and completed the Marine Corps Instructor Water Survival course.
In October 2010, she reported to Truck Company A, Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division. Staff Sergeant Abbott was attached to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines where she deployed to Sangin, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 12-1. She then served in the Licensing section and G-4 Motor Transportation of the Division.
In May of 2013, she reported to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri as a Motor Transportation Instructor where she served as Instructor, Assistant Team Leader, and Team Leader.
In February 2015, she reported to the United States Naval Academy and was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in April. She served as the Brigade Drill Master and 6th Company Senior Enlisted Leader.
In March of 2018, she checked in to 2d Transportation Support Battalion where she was assigned as the Operations Truck Master and Operations Chief. During this time she earned her associate's Degree in General Studies.
In February 2019, she was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant and reported to Marine Corps Engineer School, Headquarters and Support Company and assumed the billet as Company First Sergeant. In March 2020, she transferred to Combat Engineer Instruction Company at Marine Corps Engineer School and assumed the billet as Company First Sergeant.
In March of 2021, she reported to 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, Weapons Company and assumed the billet as Company First Sergeant where she deployed as a BLT with the 22 MEU and while out to sea completed her bachelor's degree in History from Columbia College, MO.
In January of 2023, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major and reported to The Basic School, and was appointed as the Battalion Sergeant Major of Combat Instructor Battalion.
Sergeant Major Abbott's personal awards include the Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal in lieu of 6th award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in lieu of 3rd award, and the Combat Action Ribbon in lieu of 2nd award.
