Lance Cpl. Jeffrey J. Elking Jr troubleshoots the MRC-142C, which provides medium-range Ultra High Frequency (UHF) line-of-sight, point-to-point radio communications over a distance of up to 35 miles. This is necessary as part of his training within Ground Radio Repair Course to provide critical troubleshooting information for later use identifying the broken component to be sent in for repairs. Elking will attain the MOS 2841 and become a Radio Repairer. The Marine will then move on to the Marine Corps Reserve to provide technical support to the communication field.
