Marines conduct practical application on an umimproved route with the goal of identifying Improvised Explosive Device (IED) indicators at the Home Station Training Lanes (HSTL) aboard Camp Pendleton, C.A. Prior to this practical application, Marines spend time in a classroom learning about the potential indicators that an IED has been emplaced and learn how to increase their awareness. Marines are taught by contractors attached to the Defeat the Device section from Marine Corps Engineer School.
