On June 9, 2016 Second Lieutenant Troy Searcy (front center) along with students attached to Combat Engineer Officer course 5-16 (CEO 5-16) emplace a M18A1 Claymore Mine to be detonated on a training range aboard Marine Corps Engineer School, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Claymore mines are used for protection and as protective obstacles in defensive positions. From left to right are Second Lieutenants Troy Searcy, Brock Yackey (back center), and Thomas Cofer.
