On April 4, 2016 Marines with Combat Engineer Officer's course 5-16 (CEO 5-16) conduct a bite grit test during instruction in Soils and Soils Stabilization at Marine Corps Engineer School aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C. Marines performing this test taste the soil to determine if it is composed of soot or clay which ultimately aids in determining the capabilities of the soil on which a structure is to be built. Pictured from left to right: First Lieutenant Jonathan Lanning Keller and Second Lieutenants Brock Yackey and Troy Searcy.
