On March 2, 2016 Second Lieutenants Eric Johnson and Eric Mederos, Marines attached to Combat Engineer Officers course 3-16 (CEO 3-16); practice tying a girth hitch with an extra turn during a military demolitions class. This type of knot is used to create branch line connections which are lengths of detonation cord used to prime charges.
