On March 2, 2016 Gunnery Sergeant Cheze, a Marine instructor with Combat Engineer Instruction Company, provides hands on learning about the non-electric initiation system to Combat Engineer Officers course 3-16 (CEO 3-16), pictured from left to right: Second Lieutenants Eric Johnson, Erik Henegar, and Eric Mederos; at Marine Corps Engineer School aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C. This system used a non-electric blasting cap to detonate an explosive charge.
