Lance Cpl. Henrietta Verduzco, administrative clerk with the Consolidated Personnel Administration Center, and Sgt. David A. Cantwell, police sergeant, Headquarters Company, both with Headquarters and Service Battalion, each carry a Christmas tree to the Family Service Center at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego Dec. 2 as part of the “Trees for Troops” program. The program, which is sponsored by the Christmas Spirit Foundation and FedEx, has delivered more than 67,000 trees to servicemembers on U.S. military bases and overseas since it began in 2005. Military members and their families lined up at 8 a.m. to wait for the trees to be distributed. Each family was able to walk around the lot and choose their tree. The event also included holiday cookies, apple cider and carolers to help get the families into the holiday spirit.
