On March 15, 2018 Marine Corps Engineer School (MCES) hosted the annual St. Patrick’s Day Engineer Field Meet to pay homage to St. Patrick, the patron saint for engineers; build camaraderie amongst the engineer and utility communities, and compete for the Engineer Field Meet Trophy. To complete a turn in the Cross Cut Relay, Marines sprint down Ellis Field to saw horses where they must use a crosscut saw to cut the end off of a piece of wood.
On March 15, 2018 Marine Corps Engineer School (MCES) hosted the annual St. Patrick’s Day Engineer Field Meet to pay homage to St. Patrick, the patron saint for engineers; build camaraderie amongst the engineer and utility communities, and compete for the Engineer Field Meet Trophy.  Marines competing in the Find the Rebar Challenge use sledge hammers to break apart a cement block in order to find a piece of rebar.

The Blarney Stone Toss is a test of strength and Marines hurl a 40 pound stone to see who can throw it the farthest.

Sergeant Major Groth enlisted in the Marine Corps in Oct 1992 and attended recruit training at MCRD San Diego, CA with following training at MCT and then continued to his MOS school (0331). Upon completion of MCT and MOS school, Sergeant Major Groth was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marines in 29 Palms, Ca.
SSgt Joseph T. Dickenson the first Marine to receive a coin from Brigadier General Jason Q. Bohm Commanding General, Training Command at Fort Leonard Wood, MO Jan. 24th, 2018. SSgt Dickenson is in charge of the Leadership Professional Development Training program which was only put in effect less than a year and has been successful with his leadership, the command takes time to recognize him for his outstanding effort. On February 16, 2018 as part of the Motorcycle Mentorship Program (MMP), Marines conducted level three motorcycle safety training. For this advanced ride Marines:  received a brief and discussed specific motorcycle handling techniques, conducted pre-ride inspections, took a local ride to practice the specific motorcycle handling techniques, returned to debrief the techniques, received additional training, and then conducted a longer ride that exercised all the discussed techniques. The MMP is designed to capitalize on the riding experience of mature, seasoned riders and to share that knowledge with other riders. On February 9, 2018 Sergeant Blake D. Harris received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal for meritorious service while serving as Operations Chief and Platoon Sergeant, Engineer Support Section and Company Gunnery Sergeant Headquarters and Service Company from June 2014 to February 2018.
On January 11, 2018 Second Lieutenant Justin Failma, a Marine attending Combat Engineer Officer (CEO) Course 7-17; leads his class through the Night Infiltration Course (NIC) aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N. C. The NIC is a practical exercise for the obstacle breach planning portion of the course. Students use the knowledge from classroom instruction and apply it in order to breach obstacles and create lanes through various wire entanglements and simulated minefields in order to provide mobility to the maneuver commander.
