Lieutenant Colonel Robert L. Kimbrell II
LtCol Rob Kimbrell graduated from Florida State University in the spring of 1991, where he received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business. Before joining the Marine Corps he worked for The Dial Corporation in New Orleans and Lafayette, Louisiana from 1991-1992.

In the fall of 1992 he attended Officer Candidate Course and earned a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the USMCR on 11 December 1992. After graduating the Basis School in July of 1993 he checked aboard NAS Pensacola and attended flight school in Pensacola, Florida, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Milton, Florida, and was designated a Naval Aviator in July of 1995.

• August 1995: 1st Lt Kimbrell reported to HMT-303 at MCAS Camp Pendleton to receive initial Fleet Replacement Squadron training as an AH-1W pilot.

• January 1996: 1stLt Kimbrell reported for duty with HMLA-269, Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 29, aboard MCAS New River, North Carolina. During this time he deployed with HMH-263 (24th MEU) in 1998, and again with HMH-365 (26th MEU) in 1999. In January 1997 he was promoted to Captain. While on the 26th MEU he supported flight operations in Kosovo in support of Operation Noble Anvil, Operation Avid Response, Operation Shining Hope, and Operation Allied Force.

• December 1999: Capt Kimbrell was assigned to Ft. Rucker, Alabama, where he attended the Army’s Captain’s Career Course, graduating with honors. In May of 2000 he was assigned to HMLA/T-303 for duty as an instructor pilot, and served as the Assistant Operations Officer.

• July 2002: Capt Kimbrell was selected for duty at HMX-1, and promoted to the rank of Major. During this tour he served in Operations and the White House Liaison Office, supporting over 150 Presidential flight missions in the United States and 6 other countries.

• July 2006: Maj Kimbrell was assigned to HMLA-369, MAG-39, aboard MCAS Camp Pendleton, California. In April 2007 his squadron deployed to Iraq in support of OIF 06-08.1.

• June 2008: Maj Kimbrell was promoted to LtCol and assigned to Weapons and Field Training Battalion, MCRD, San Diego, aboard Camp Pendleton, where he served at the Executive Officer.

• July 2010: LtCol Kimbrell was assigned to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, where he served as an Aviation Plans Program Manager, Deputy Operations Officer and the Director of Aviation Training System.

• July 2016 – Present: MATSG-23 Executive Officer.

Personal decorations: Meritorious Service Medal (third award), Air Medal (7), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
