Major Matthew S. Hall attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University from 2001 to 2003. In May of 2003, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and attended Recruit Training.
After completing the Fire Support Man and Naval Gunfire Liaison Courses in Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Coronado, California, he was assigned to Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion 14th Marines as a Forward Observer. In 2004, he was selected to attend the Platoon Leaders Course for screening as a Marine Officer. Upon completion of both the junior and senior phases of Platoon Leaders Course and graduation from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Major Hall was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in May of 2006. Upon graduation from The Basic School and Ground Supply Officers Course, Major Hall was assigned as the Supply Officer for 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines in 2007. Major Hall deployed with 2/3 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom during this assignment. In 2010 Major Hall was assigned to the Inspector Instructor (I&I) Staff of 1st Battalion 23rd Marines and the S-4 I&I and Supply Officer. During this assignment he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as the Logistics Officer and Supply Officer. Major Hall also served as the H&S Company I&I until selection on the Commandants Career Level Education board. In 2013, Major Hall attended the Army Combined Logistics Captains Career Course (CLCCC) for resident professional military education. Upon Completion of CLCCC, Major Hall was assigned to 8th Communication Battalion to serve as the Battalion Supply Officer. He reported to Marine Corps Combat Service Support School on 15 June 2016 for duty.
Major Hall’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award.
