Captain Adam M. Sankovsky

Captain Sankovsky  was commissioned in the Marine Corps on May 9, 2009.  Following his commissioning; Captain Sankovsky attended The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia in June 2009. In January 2010, he transferred to his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) School at Infantry Officer’s Course in Quantico, Virginia where he received the MOS of 0302, Infantry Officer.

Captain Sankovsky received orders for Echo Company, 2d Battalion, 8th Marines in April 2010. While in Echo Company, Captain Sankovsky served as a rifle platoon commander and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in Afghanistan in January 2011.  He was promoted to First Lieutenant in May 2011.  Upon returning from OEF, Captain Sankovsky attended Infantry Mortar Leader’s Course on Camp Geiger from October to December 2011. He was selected to serve on an advisor team in January 2012, to train and assist the Republic of Georgian Army in their preparation for deployment to Afghanistan. 

In February 2012, Captain Sankovsky was assigned to Headquarters and Service Company, 2d Battalion, 8th Marines and served as the executive officer for five months.  In June 2012, Captain Sankovsky was assigned to Weapons Company, 2d Battalion, 8th Marines serving as their executive officer for four months. While serving as the executive officer, he attended Fire Support Coordination Course in July 2012. In September 2012, Captain Sankovsky was assigned to the Mobile Strike Force Security Force Assistance Advisor Team.

While with the Mobile Strike Force Security Assistance Advisor Team, Captain Sankovsky attended the Foreign Advisor’s Course in January 2013. In February 2013, Captain Sankovsky deployed with the Mobile Strike Force Security Force Assistance Advisor Team to Afghanistan in support of OEF.  In July 2013, Captain Sankovsky was promoted to Captain. Upon his return from Afghanistan in September 2013, Captain Sankovsky was assigned to School of Infantry-East.

In November of 2013, Capt Sankovsky reported to School of Infantry-East and was assigned as the Headquarters and Service Company Commander. After serving for 12 months with Headquarters and Service Company, he was assigned to Bravo Company, Infantry Training Battalion as a Company Commander. He served with Bravo Company for eight months, when he was appointed as the Director of Combat Instructor School, School of Infantry-East in August 2015.

Captain Sankovsky’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 1 Gold Star in lieu of second award.
