Colonel Steven M. Wolf

Colonel Wolf was commissioned in May 1992 following his graduation from the United States Air Force Academy.  As a Lieutenant, he served with 3d Battalion, 3d Marines as a Platoon Commander, Battalion S-3A, and Rifle Company Commander. As a Captain, he was assigned as a Company Executive Officer and the Battalion S-3A at Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California. Colonel Wolf was selected to be an Olmsted Scholar in 1998.  Following completion of the Basic German Language Course at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, he studied political science at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany from 1999 to 2001.  Upon completion of the Olmsted Program, Colonel Wolf returned to 3d Battalion, 3d Marines in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, where he served as the Headquarters and Service Company Commander and was promoted to Major in 2002.

 

As a Field Grade Officer, Colonel Wolf remained with 3d Battalion, 3d Marines, serving as the Battalion S-3 until 2004, when he assumed command of Marine Corps Recruiting Station, Nashville, Tennessee.  In 2007, Colonel Wolf was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and assigned as the Global Force Management Action Officer and Cell Chief at Headquarters, U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany.  Colonel Wolf then served as the Operations Officer for 2d Marines, and deployed with the Regimental Combat Team to Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011.  Following this deployment, he became the Executive Officer for 2d Marines.  Colonel Wolf assumed command of 2d Battalion, 2d Marines in 2012, and deployed to Eastern Europe as the commander of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force – Black Sea Rotational Force in 2013.  Colonel Wolf was promoted to his present rank in 2014 while attending the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.

Colonel Wolf’s Professional Military Education includes the Basic School, the Infantry Officer Course, the Amphibious Warfare School non-resident program, the Command and Staff College non-resident program, and the Naval War College.
