First Sergeant Charles W. Tyler
Officer Candidate School

Charles W. Tyler enlisted in 1999 and underwent recruit training at 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Kilo Company, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

In September 1999, Private Tyler completed Personnel Admin School at Camp Johnson, NC. He was ordered to Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Edson Range, CA. for duty.  He served in a variety of billets from Orders Clerk to Mail Noncommissioned Officer in Charge.
 
Corporal Tyler was transferred to Recruiting Station Albany, NY in November 2001.  Outside of his primary duty as an Operation Clerk, he was assigned numerous duties to include; Admin Clerk, Drill Evaluator for the JROTC program at the community colleges.
 
In December 2004, Sergeant Tyler received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Depot, San Diego, CA. Upon completion of Drill Instructor School, he was assigned to Company I, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. 
 
In April 2008, Staff Sergeant Tyler was assigned to 7th Communication Battalion, where he assumed the responsibilities as the Legal Chief for the battalion.  Staff Sergeant Tyler was reassigned to Headquarters and Service Battalion in July 2008, where he served as the Legal and Promotion SNCOIC in IPAC.
 
In April 2009, Gunnery Sergeant Tyler commenced training with the Regional Corps Advisory Command 3-7.  He deployed with the RCAC in July 2009 for 9 months. His duties included advising the G-1 Sergeant Major for the 101st Corps, Afghan National Army, in Polecharki District, and providing admin support for over 150 members of the Embedded Transition Team s (ETTs).
 
Gunnery Sergeant Tyler returned from deployment to Headquarters and Service Battalion in April 2010.  He was reassigned to the Inbound Department, IPAC, where he served as the SNCOIC for the department. His collateral duties included teaching drill at the local Corporals Course, and serving as the Equal Opportunity Representative for Headquarters Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion. 
 
In January 2011 Gunnery Sergeant Tyler transferred to Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA, where he served as the SNCOIC for the Customer Service Department, and the SNCOIC for the Quality Assurance Department, IPAC.  In the summers of 2011 and 2012, he served as a Sergeant Instructor at Officer Candidate School with Company B and Company C, respectively. 
 
In April 2013, Gunnery Sergeant was transferred to Officer Candidate School.  Gunnery Sergeant Tyler served as the Platoon Sergeant for 3rd Platoon, Company C in the summer of 2013. In the fall and winter of 2013, he served as the Drill Master for Officer Candidates School.  First Sergeant Tyler is currently serving as the Company First Sergeant for Company C, Officer Candidate School.
