Colonel Grissett was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and is a graduate of the University of Mississippi. Commissioned in the U.S. Marine Corps through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in August 2003, she graduated The Basic School in June 2004 as a Combat Engineer. Following completion of the Combat Engineer Officer Course at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Second Lieutenant Grissett reported to 3d Force Service Support Group in Okinawa, Japan. Upon arrival, Second Lieutenant Grissett was assigned as an Engineer Platoon Commander, Alpha Company, 9th Engineer Support Battalion. During this period, she deployed to Sri Lanka with Combined Support Force-536 in support of Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief operations for tsunami relief, serving as the future operations officer and liaison officer to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 7 and the local government in Galle. In addition, her platoon completed two vertical construction projects for schools in two separate provinces in Thailand during Exercise Cobra Gold in 2005.
Second Lieutenant Grissett deployed as the Engineer Platoon Commander and then the Assistant Operations Officer with MEU Service Support Group 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in Okinawa when a second HA/DR mission was executed in the Philippines. After returning CONUS, First Lieutenant Grissett was assigned as a Series Commander and Company Commander of Company O at 4th Recruit Training Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island.
Captain Grissett was to attend Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico in 2009. Upon completion, Captain Grissett was assigned as the Engineer Company Commander at Marine Wing Support Squadron 271, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. During that time, she deployed to Afghanistan with 2d Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward) as the G4 Engineer Officer in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon return from deployment, Captain Grissett served as the Squadron Operations Officer, then deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with the Squadron as the Operations Officer. After the deployment, she returned to MWSS-271 as the Squadron Executive Officer until she transitioned to Combat Logistics Battalion 15, 15th MEU, Camp Pendleton, California, in 2014.Major Grissett completed a 15th MEU deployment to the Central Command Area of Operations as the Battalion Operations Officer and the Executive Officer before completing her time at Camp Pendleton as the 1st Marine Logistics Group G3 Future Operations Officer.
Major Grissett was selected by the Commandant’s Professional Intermediate-Level Education Board to attend the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island in 2017. During that time, she also completed Maritime Advanced Warfighting School. Major Grissett completed her MAGTF Planner tour with Marine Corps Forces Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida, serving in the G3 Future Operations section as well as the lead Iran Planner in the G5. Lieutenant Colonel Grissett completed her time at MARCENT as the Chief of Plans. She participated in numerous joint planning and wargame events developing combined naval plans with NAVCENT in support of Central Command requirements.
In 2021, Lieutenant Colonel Grissett relocated to Marine Corps Base, Hawaii, to serve as the Commanding Officer of MWSS-174, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st MAW. As a part of U.S. Marine Corps Force Design, MWSS-174 was activated as a new squadron. Lieutenant Colonel Grissett and her team ensured the Squadron was fully operationally capable at the end of her tour, while also supporting multiple detachments to Marine Rotational Force-Darwin, MEU augmentations, Exercise Balikatan, and training in Guam.
From July 2024 to June 2026, upon completion of National Defense University’s Joint Advanced Warfighting School in Norfolk, Virginia, Lieutenant Colonel Grissett again completed her Planner tour at MacDill AFB, this time at U.S. Central Command. She served as a Strategic Planner and the Campaign and Functional Plans Branch Chief in the USCENTCOM J5 Strategy, Plans, and Policy Directorate. Additionally, she integrated with interagency and the intelligence community in the National Capital Region to further synchronize and develop mutual interests within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
Colonel Grissett assumed command of the Marine Corps Detachment at Fort Leonard Wood in July 2026. Colonel Grissett holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics, with minors in French and Naval Science from the University of Mississippi (2003). Additionally, she holds a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College (2018) and a Master of Science in Joint Campaign Planning and Strategy from National Defense University (2024). Her other formal military education includes: The Basic School, Combat Engineer Officer Course, Expeditionary Warfare School, Weapons and Tactics Instructor-Aviation Ground Support, Joint Engineer Operations Course, Command and Staff Naval War College, Maritime Advanced Warfighting School, and the Joint Advanced Warfighting School.
Colonel Grissett’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars in lieu of 4th award, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of 2nd award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
