Major Grund was born and raised in Andover, New Jersey. He attended Norwich University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2014 and in December of 2015 he graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. He attended Officer Candidate School in May 2016 as a part of OCC-222 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in August of 2016. After commissioning he attended The Basic School and obtained the Logistics Officer Military Occupational Specialty in May of 2017
In June 2017, 2ndLt Grund reported to 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company to assume duties as the Motor Transportation Officer and Maintenance Management Officer. In November 2019, 1stLt Grund was selected to serve as the S-4 officer for Task Force Ellis 21.1, in support of Pacific Partnership 20 and additional I MEF Theater Security Cooperation exercises.
Upon his return from Task Force Ellis 21.1, Major Grund was promoted to the rank of Captain and in February 2021 executed orders to 3d Landing Support Battalion where he served as the future operations officer. In May 2021, Captain Grund assumed command of Company A, a mixture of Landing Support Company A and Beach and Terminal Operations Company which would later be redesignated as Landing Support Company. In August 2023, Capt Grund relinquished command of Landing Support Company and proceeded to the Battalion S-4 at 3d LSB. He served as the Battalion S-4 Officer until his departure from 3d LSB in June 2024.
In July 2024, Major Grund executed orders to Marine Corps Base Quantico to attend Expeditionary Warfare School. In June of 2025, Major Grund executed orders to Motor Transport Instruction Company, Marine Corps Detachment Fort Leonard Wood where he was promoted to his present rank.
His personal decorations include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
