Sergeant Major Ramga enlisted in the Marine Corps on the Delayed Entry Program in July 1997 as an Infantryman. He
reported to Recruit Training in May 1998. He attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island,
South Carolina, and the Basic Rifleman Course at Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry (East), Camp Geiger,
North Carolina. He attained a variety of certifications throughout his career, to include Combat Instructor, Summer and
Winter Mountain Leader, Military Ski Instructor, Foreign Security Force Advisor, and Helicopter Rope Suspension
Techniques Master.
Sergeant Major Ramga's Fleet Marine Force assignments include rifleman, automatic rifleman, mortarman, and mortar
squad leader with 3d Battalion, 4th Marines, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Twenynine Palms, California;
rifle squad leader, mobile assault section leader, and platoon sergeant with 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, 2d Marine Division,
Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; and platoon sergeant, assistant battalion operations chief, and company gunnery sergeant
with 2d Battalion, 2d Marines, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
His supporting establishment tours include Combat Instructor, Company E, Marine Combat Training Battalion and Student
Administration Company, Headquarters and Support Battalion, School of Infantry (East), Camp Lejeune, North Carolina;
Mountain Warfare Instructor and Military Ski Instructor, Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport,
California; Foreign Security Force Advisor and Team Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Marine Corps Training
Mission, United Arab Emirates; and Operations and Training Chief, Marine Aviation Training Support Group 22, Naval
Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas.
His deployments include two Unit Deployment Program (UDP) rotations to Okinawa, Japan and South Korea; combat
deployments to Ramadi, Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and Garmsir, Afghanistan in support of Operation
ENDURING FREEDOM; an individual augment assignment with Marine Corps Training Mission United Arab Emirates;
and a deployment to Romania and Serbia as a member of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response
Africa. He has additionally participated in Exercises Cold Response 2014 and Joint Viking 2023 in Norway.
Sergeant Major Ramga's selection to First Sergeant in 2018 marked his departure from the Infantry occupational field.
Sergeant Major Ramga served as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader for both Truck Company and Communications
Company, Headquarters Battalion, 3d Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan. He was frocked to his present grade in November
2021, and has served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for 2d Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, II Marine
Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-East, Camp
Geiger, North Carolina. He assumed his current post as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader, Marine Corps School of
Artillery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma in October 2025.
Sergeant Major Ramga is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Course Class 71. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in
Social and Criminal Justice from Ashford University and a Master of Science in Management from Excelsior College. His
personal awards include the Purple Heart Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award), the Navy and Marine Corps
Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3rd award, one with combat V), the Combat
Action Ribbon (2nd award), and various other service and campaign medals.
