Lieutenant Colonel Andrew C. Eckert was born to Petty Officer First Class George C. Eckert, USCG and Barbara J. Eckert on 3 October 1982 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. He was commissioned in 2005 after receiving a degree in mathematics and a second major in peace, war, and defense from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Following commission, The Basic School, and Infantry Officers Course, in 2006 he was assigned to Company F, 2d Battalion, 2d Marines. He deployed twice, with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit to the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf, and for combat operations to Rawah, Iraq as a platoon commander and company executive officer.
In 2009 he was assigned as Infantry Platoon Commander, Combat Instructor Company, Instructor Battalion, The Basic School and was subsequently assigned to Infantry Officer Course as an Instructor.
In 2013, after Expeditionary Warfighting School, Captain Eckert was assigned as Company Commander, Company F, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines. He deployed as the Security Force, United States Embassy Tripoli, Libya, Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Crisis Response and for Unit Deployment Program - East to Okinawa, Japan.
In 2015, Captain Eckert reported as the Commanding Officer, Marine Security Guard Security Augmentation Unit.
In 2018, Major Eckert reported to the School of Advanced Warfighting and was then assigned to the G-3, I MEF as a MAGTF Planner. In 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Eckert Reported to Wargaming Division, Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory as the Deputy Director.
In June 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Eckert assumed command of Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-East as the Commanding Officer.
Lieutenant Colonel Eckert's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with 2 gold stars and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 2 gold stars.
