Sergeant Major Nathan J. Hendrick
The Basic School

Sergeant Major Hendrick is a native of Port Huron, Michigan.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 2000 and attended Recruit Training at MCRD Parris Island, SC.  Upon completion of bootcamp, he reported to Camp Geiger, NC for Marine Combat Training (MCT).  Following MCT, he reported to Motor Transport Operator School Fort Leonard Wood, MO and upon graduation earned the MOS of 3531.

In March 2000, Private First Class Hendrick reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 373, Miramar, CA. While there Corporal Hendrick deployed to Iraq in 2003 in support of OIF 1.

In October 2004, Corporal Hendrick received orders to Marine Security Guard School, Quantico, VA.  Upon graduation Corporal Hendrick received orders to U.S. Embassy Jakarta, Indonesia where he was promoted to Sergeant. In 2005 Sergeant Hendrick received orders to U.S. Embassy Monrovia, Liberia.

In June 2006, Sergeant Hendrick received orders to Military Security Force, Joint Chiefs of Staff Pentagon, Arlington, VA.  During his tour of duty Sergeant Hendrick served as a Team Leader providing internal security for the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In August 2007, Sergeant Hendrick received orders to Truck Company 2d Marine Division. He served as Platoon Sergeant and assistant Truck Master.  In December 2007 he was attached to 1st Battalion 9th Marines, where he served as Convoy Commander and Platoon Sergeant during his deployment to Iraq. During this tour Sergeant Hendrick was promoted to Staff Sergeant.

In April 2009, Staff Sergeant Hendrick reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 273, Beaufort, SC.  He served as the Motor Transport Operations Chief and Truck Master.

In April 2011, Staff Sergeant Hendrick received orders to Marine Corps Air Facility, Quantico, Va. Where he served as the Motor Transport Operations Chief and Fuels Chief in support of HMX-1 and all transient Presidential Aircraft. In August 2014 he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.

In August 2014, Gunnery Sergeant Hendrick reported to Marine Corps Detachment Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He served as the Chief Instructor for Bravo Team. In December 2014 he was selected to fill the billet of Company First Sergeant for H&S.  

In October 2016, Gunnery Sergeant Hendrick reported to Combat Logistic Battalion 8. He served as the Battalion Operations Chief. In April 2018 he was promoted to First Sergeant.

In April 2018, First Sergeant Hendrick assumed his duties as the First Sergeant, Company C, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines. During his time with 1/8 he deployed in support of SPMAGFT CR-AF 19.2.

In July 2020, First Sergeant Hendrick report to Weapons and Field Training Battalion, MCRD P.I. During this tour he served as the Range Company First Sergeant, H&S Company First Sergeant, and Battalion Sergeant Major. In February 2024 he was promoted to his current rank of Sergeant Major.

In February 2024, Sergeant Major Hendrick reported to Combat Instructor Battalion where he currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

Sergeant Major Hendrick’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with (2) gold stars, Joint Achievement Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star, and Combat Action Ribbon.
