Captain Dakota V. Brandenburg

 

     Captain Brandenburg is currently serving as the Headquarters & Service Company Commander, MCCSSS.

     Captain Brandenburg was born on 24 December 1990 in Tucson, Arizona.  He attended the University of Arizona where he received his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science. He attended Officer Candidates School in July of 2012. 

     Captain Brandenburg was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on 11 May 2013 and reported to The Basic School in Quantico, VA. Upon completion, he reported as the Deputy Comptroller, III MHG Camp Hansen, Okinawa for on the job training before reporting to Financial Management Officer’s Course at Camp Johnson, NC where he earned his 3404 MOS. While at III MHG, Captain Brandenburg became the Ground Safety Officer and Headquarters & Service Company Executive Officer. During this tour he went to the Republic of Korea twice for planning of exercise Ulchi-Freedom Guardian and conducted allied nation team building with host nation Republic of Korea financial managers. Captain Brandenburg successfully finished his tour in May 2018 and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.    

     Captain Brandenburg reported to Marine Corps Air Station Yuma as the Deputy Comptroller in June 2018. While in Yuma he played a critical role in developing a tracking tool to restructure the civilian manpower at the installation, trained the newly hired Comptroller, and ensured the success of Installations & Logistics initiatives across the installation. During this tour, Captain Brandenburg completed the Advanced Financial Management Officer Course in December 2018 and Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program in 2020. Captain Brandenburg successfully finished his tour in June 2021 and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

     Captain Brandenburg reported to Expeditionary Warfare School, Marine Corps University as a student in August 2021. As a student, Captain Brandenburg was placed in positions of leadership where he further learned and refined his understanding of the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) in an expeditionary environment.

     Captain Brandenburg reported to Financial Management School, Marine Corps Combat Service Support School where he served as the Operations Officer from July 2022 until he assumed command of Headquarters & Service Company on December 15, 2022. During this time Captain Brandenburg completed the Facilitate Learning Experience Course and Instructor Development Course.

     Captain Brandenburg is married to Chelsea Brandenburg. Together they have two daughters, a son, and two dogs.
