First Sergeant Michael Kyle

First Sergeant Michael D. Kyle was born in California, Maryland. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in December 2001 and attended recruit training with Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. In March 2002 he reported to the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina for Marine Combat Training. Upon Graduation, he reported to Motor Transportation School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. 
 
Upon graduation in June 2002, he received the MOS 3531 Motor Vehicle Operator and reported to Base Motor Transportation, Okinawa, Japan. In 2004, after being promoted, Lance Corporal Kyle received orders to Base Motor Transportation, Quantico, Virginia. While serving at Quantico, he served as section leader at Heavy Equipment Section and later selected as Head Dispatcher. Due to outstanding performance in the billets he held, Corporal Kyle was meritoriously promoted to Sergeant. In 2006, Sgt Kyle elected to execute a lateral move into Career Planner. After receiving the MOS 4821, Sgt Kyle was sent to 2nd Maintenance Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While serving there, he deployed in support of Operation Iraq Freedom and received a Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Upon return, he was selected to fill a hot spot at 2nd Radio Battalion, Camp Lejeune. While there he was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he was selected to be a Watch Officer in the Command and Operation center. Upon return to Camp Lejeune, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines, Camp Lejeune NC. While assigned to 2nd Marine Division, he was selected to participate in another deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. During this operation, Sgt Kyle was promoted to Staff Sergeant and given his second award of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
 
In January 2013, SSgt Kyle reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina for Drill Instructor Duty. Upon graduation, he was assigned to Lima Company, 3rd Battalion Recruit Training Battalion.  SSgt Kyle was awarded high hat in final drill multiple times and while serving as an experienced Drill Instructor he produced multiple platoons which ranked in the high ranking across the Depot. After completing seven cycles as a Drill Instructor, SSgt Kyle was selected for Gunnery Sergeant. In July 2016, GySgt Kyle was assigned to 6th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune NC. There he served as the Company Gunnery Sergeant and later was selected to serve as the acting Company First Sergeant. During this time, while supporting five Battalions and a special task force in various operations across the world, he won the 2017 Headquarters Marine Corps SNCOIC Career Planner of the year. In December 2018, GySgt Kyle was selected to the rank of First Sergeant.
 
In January 2019, First Sergeant Kyle executed orders to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion 6th Marines where he served as Company First Sergeant. In February 2020, 1stSgt Kyle was deployed to Okinawa, Japan to support a UDP. While deployed he was selected to serve as the senior enlisted advisor for Task Force Fuji, which was the first movement for III MEF since the outbreak of COVID-19. After a successful deployment with zero incidents, he currently resides at Charlie Company, 1st Battalion 6th Marines. 
 
First Sergeant Kyle's personal awards include one Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Outstanding Volunteer Medal and Good Conduct Medals.
