First Sergeant Brown was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi and was raised in Meridian Mississippi.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps and completed recruit training with Company K, 3d Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina on 31 August 2001.  He reported to the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, Jacksonville, North Carolina for training at Company B, Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry- East on 11 September 2001. Upon completion of training he earned the MOS of 0311, Marine Rifleman and was assigned to Company G, 2d Battalion 4th Marines (G 2/4), 1st Marine Division for duty in November of 2001.

In February 2002 he was assigned to Weapons Platoon Mortar Section as an Assistant Gunner. He was promoted to Lance Corporal meritoriously in June of 2002 prior to deploying to the 31st MEU in Okinawa, Japan. Before returning from Okinawa he was promoted to the rank of Corporal in June of 2003, and was assigned as the Mortar Section Fire Direction Center (FDC). In September of 2003 Corporal Brown successfully completed Corporals Course and Helicopter Rope Suspension Technician School. In February of 2004 he deployed to Ar Ramadi, Iraq with G 2/4 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II until September of 2004.

In June of 2005, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to Tactics Platoon, Officer Candidate School, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. He was assigned the primary instructor for numerous classes and in 2007 upon completion of Formal School Instructors Course (FSIC) he was assigned to the Instruction Section as a Platform Instructor. 

In December 2007 Sergeant Brown received orders to Company B, 1st Battalion 4th Marines (B 1/4) as the Mobile Assault Platoon Section Leader (MAP). In October 2008, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to Al Fallujah, Iraq and was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in January 2009. In August of 2009 Staff Sergeant Brown completed Staff Non-Commissioned Officers Career Course. In May of 2010, he deployed again with Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 1/4 as part of the 15th MEU as Weapons Platoon Sergeant and Mortars Section Leader for Company B.

In April, 2011, Staff Sergeant Brown reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina for Drill Instructor Duty. From August of 2011 until June 2014 Staff Sergeant Brown served as a drill instructor, senior drill instructor, and chief drill instructor with Company D, First Recruit Training Battalion and a company gunnery sergeant with Instructional Training Company, Support Battalion. Staff Sergeant Brown successfully completed Infantry Unit Leaders Course at Camp Geiger North Carolina in April of 2014.

In August of 2014, Staff Sergeant Brown was assigned to 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay where he served as the 81’s section leader and platoon sergeant and Weapons Company Operations Chief. In December of 2014, Staff Sergeant Brown deployed as part of the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa until June of 2015. In August 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and assigned Combined Anti-Armor Team 1 as platoon sergeant. While assigned to CAAT-1, Gunnery Sergeant Brown served as the Platoon Commander, Weapons Company Operations Chief and Company First Sergeant. 

In June 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Brown reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego where has served as Chief Drill Instructor, Company I, Third Recruit Training Battalion, Uniforms Instructor and Squad Instructor, Drill Instructor School, and Company First Sergeant for Companies A and D, First Recruit Training Battalion.

First Sergeant Brown’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 1 gold star in lieu of second award, Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 3 gold stars in lieu of fourth award and Combat Action Ribbon.
