Colonel Kevin J. Boyce was born in Calabasas, CA and graduated from Gonzaga University with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1990. He was awarded his Masters of Business Administration from Cal-Lutheran University in June 1994. While at Gonzaga University, he was a member of the varsity baseball team. Colonel Boyce is also a prior-enlisted reserve Marine who was attached to 2d Bn, 23rd Marines at Port Hueneme, CA.
Upon completion at The Basic School in October 1997, he was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Support Element, Kaneohe aboard MCB Kaneohe Bay, HI. In February 1998, he attended the Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, GA where he received formal training as an Aviation Supply Officer. In January 1999, he was assigned to HMH-463 and participated in Combined Arms Exercises 4 and 5 in 29 Palms, CA. In November 1999, he was attached to HMH-366 and participated in a Presidential trip to Dhaka, Bangladesh.
In 2001, Colonel Boyce reported to MCAS Futenma in Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Assistant Aviation Supply Officer at Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 36. He supported aircraft deployed for training and exercises at Korean Incremental Training Program, Cobra Gold, Ulchi-Focus Lens and Tandem Thrust. In April 2002, he was assigned as the MALS Detachment OIC for exercises Crow Valley and BALIKATAN aboard Clark AFB in Pampanga, Philippines.
In June 2002, Colonel Boyce received orders to Commander, Fleet and Air Mediterranean in Naples, Italy. There he served as the Aviation Supply Officer on the Navy Staff. In this assignment, he was responsible for the aviation supply support for all MEU rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft and all Navy aircraft operating in 5th and 6th fleet areas of operation.
In June 2005, Colonel Boyce received orders to Marine Helicopter Squadron One in Quantico, VA where he served as both the Assistant Aviation Supply Officer and Aviation Supply Officer. In addition to his primary duties, he served as a Detachment Duty Officer and an Associate White House Liaison Officer, responsible for coordinating logistical support for detachment personnel and aircraft during Presidential helicopter support missions.
In June 2009, he reported to MALS-16 and assumed the duties as the Aviation Supply Officer and Executive Officer. In February 2010, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 10.1.
In June 2012, he received orders to Naval Supply Weapon Systems Support in Philadelphia, PA. There he served as the AV-8B Integrated Weapon System Team Lead for all Harrier support.
In June 2014, Colonel Boyce took Command of the world-famous MALS 26 ‘Patriots’. He also served as the NAE Logistics Lead for all V-22 aviation logistical support. He relinquished command in May 2016.
In June 2016, he reported to Third Marine Aircraft Wing – Aviation Logistics Division as the Deputy. In December 2016, he assumed Command of the MALS-11 ‘Devilfish’ and served as the NAE Logistics Lead for all F/A-18 aircraft. He relinquished command in March 2017.
In January 2018, he transferred to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Executive Officer and was selected to attend the Naval War College in Newport, RI. Upon graduation, he reported to Naval Supply Weapon Systems Support as the Senior Marine Liaison.
In July 2020 Colonel Boyce assumed the duties of his current assignment as the Commanding Officer of Marine Aviation Training Support Group 23 (MATSG-23), onboard Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Pensacola, FL.
Colonel Boyce’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 gold stars), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 gold stars), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Presidential Service Badge. Colonel Boyce is a graduate of the non-resident Amphibious Warfare School, Command and Staff, and received a Master’s degree in National Security Strategies from the Naval War College resident course.
