Major Matt I. Bride

Major Bride graduated on a full athletic scholarship from Villanova University, with a bachelor degree in Political Science in 2001. In the fall of 2007, he reported to Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Va. In 2007 Major Bride graduated from Officer Candidate School and subsequently attended The Basic School. In the fall of 2008, he graduated from The Basic School and went on to attend Infantry Officer Course. Major Bride graduated from Infantry Officer Course in December 2008.  

In January of 2009, Major Bride received orders and reported to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment. During his time at V25, Major Bride served as 3rd Platoon Commander and Executive Officer for Echo Company. Major Bride also executed the billet of Police Training Team leader, with Golf Company, V25. Major Bride’s deployments with V25 included two 31st MEU deployments where he participated in HADR operations and one deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  

In the summer of 2011, Major Bride received orders to Marine Combat Training Battalion, School of Infantry (West). During his time at the School of Infantry, he served in the billets of Executive Officer and Company Commander with India and Hotel Company. 

In the summer of 2014 Major Bride executed orders to Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Va. In May of 2015, he graduated from Expeditionary Warfare School and executed subsequent orders to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment.  

During his time at V21, Major Bride served as the Headquarters and Services Company Commander. Major Bride deployed with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, participating in the planning and execution of training events throughout PACOM and CENTCOM AOs. During the deployment, he executed the BLT LNO billet in Djibouti, Africa, where he coordinated and executed training events for the BLT and MEU forces ashore.  

After a successful deployment, Major Bride received orders to Expeditionary Operations Training Group located at Camp Pendleton, Ca. There he would serve as the assistant exercise director for the Certification Exercise for the 15th MEU and as the Exercise Director for the Certification Exercise for the Special Purpose MAGTF-CR-CC 17.2. 

In the summer of 2017, Major Bride executed orders to Headquarters Battalion, 3D Marine Division, where he served as the Operations Officer. During his time as the Operations Officer he coordinated and planed training evolutions in order to gain MET proficiency in the deployment of the Division COC. He also worked closely with the ACS G-3, supporting MEF and Division level exercises throughout the AO. In the spring of 2019, Major Bride was selected to be the Officer In Charge of Marine Detachment-Philippines 19.3. While executing this billet, Major Bride was responsible for the aggregation, training and employment of forces in support of INDOPACOM and SOCOM efforts in the Philippines. Major Bride worked closely with SOTF 511.2 in support of this mission. Post deployment, Major Bride was selected to serve as the Executive Officer for Headquarters Battalion, 3D Marine Division. 

In July 2020, Major Bride executed orders to The Basic School, where he served as the Maneuver Section Head, responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of the events contained in the Program of Instruction (POI). Major Bride then served as the Company Commander for BOC 4-21 from May 2021 to November 2021. Following a successful tour with BOC 4-21, Major Bride was selected to serve as the Company Commander for WOBC 1-22. Major Bride is currently executing the dual billets of Warfighting Instructor Battalion Executive Officer and Warfighting 5.

Major Bride’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/gold star and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/gold star.
