Combat Instructor Battalion
Major Bradley K. Herron

Major Bradley K. Herron was commissioned in May 2011, through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps program from the University of Missouri, in Columbia, Missouri. He reported to The Basic School (TBS) in December 2011, B 2-12, and graduated in July 2012. After TBS, he reported to Armor Basic Officer Leader Course in Fort Benning, Georgia for training where he was assigned the Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) of 1802, Tank Officer.

Upon completion of his training in January 2013, he was assigned to his first fleet unit, 2d Tank Battalion, located in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While at 2d Tank Battalion, he served as a Platoon Commander for Company C, Executive Officer for Company B, and the Deputy Operations Officer. While attached to 2d Tank Bn, Major Herron participated in various division, MEF, and combined arms exercises.  

In November 2015, Major Herron reported to Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command, Fort Meade, Maryland. During this time, he filled the billets of Targeting Officer in Charge (OIC) and Joint Force Headquarters-Cyberspace (JFHQ-C) Marines Deputy Operations Officer. In November 2017, Major Herron was assigned to Joint Task Force Ares, United States Cyberspace Command as the Fires OIC.  In May, he was hand selected to deploy to Iraq in support of a Special Operations Task Force. Upon his return in November 2018, he was assigned as deputy for an Operational Planning Team with JTF-Ares. During this timeframe, Maj Herron was selected in the first group of the new MOS 1702, Cyberspace Officer. 

Major Herron joined MATSG-21 and assumed command of the Marine Detachment (MARDET) on Corry Station, Pensacola, Florida in July 2019. During this time, he oversaw the growth of the MARDET from 40 to 325 Marines. Major Herron also coordinated with the Joint Services, National Security Agency, Marine Forces Cyberspace Command, and Office of the Deputy Commandant of Information to help refine the Marine Corps’ enlisted cyberspace pipeline.

Major Herron arrived at TBS in August 2022, and after completing Instructor Education Program 100, assumed command of Mike Company.  In May 2023, he took command of Company D 4-23 until their graduation in December 2023. Major Herron is currently serving as the Executive Officer for Combat Instructor Battalion

Major Herron's personal decorations include the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal.
