Lieutenant Colonel Brian A. Hinrichs

Lieutenant Colonel Hinrichs was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 2008 and immediately reported to The Basic School (TBS) in Quantico, Virginia for training. In January 2009, upon completion of TBS, he attended the Infantry Officers Course (IOC) 2-09.  Upon graduation from IOC, Second Lieutenant Hinrichs received orders to 2d Battalion (Bn), 4th Marines (Mar) in March 2009 and served as a Rifle Platoon Commander in Echo Company. He deployed on the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in 2009 and to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in 2010. First Lieutenant Hinrichs was then assigned as Executive Officer, Echo Company, 2d Bn, 4th Mar and deployed to Afghanistan in support of OEF from 2011-2012.

In 2012, Captain Hinrichs received orders to Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia from 2012-2013. In 2013, he was directed to check in to TBS and served as a Basic Officer Course (BOC) and IOC Instructor from 2013-2016. In 2016, Captain Hinrichs reported to 2d Battalion, 6th Marines and served as the Echo Company Commander from 2016-2018. He deployed on the 26th MEU in 2018.

In 2019, Major Hinrichs received orders to Expeditionary Operations Training Group (EOTG), I Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) as the head of the Exercise Branch. During this time, he served as the Exercise Planner for the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) 19.2 and the 15th MEU pre-deployment exercises. In late 2020, he was assigned as the Assistant Operations Officer at I EOTG.  During this time, he completed non-resident Command and Staff. In 2021, Major Hinrichs reported to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines for assignment as the Executive Officer. He deployed to Okinawa, Japan as part of the 31st MEU in 2022. Major Hinrichs reported to Headquarters and Support Battalion (HQSPTBN), Marine Corps Installations Command West and served as the HQSPTBN Operations Officer.

In June 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Hinrichs reported to TBS for duty as the Commanding Officer for Combat Instructor Battalion.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy Commendation Medal with combat distinguishing device and (4) gold stars, Navy Achievement Medal with gold star, and Combat Action Ribbon.
