The Basic School
Sergeant Major Reginald R. Gaye

Sergeant Major Reginald R. Gaye is a native of Washington, Georgia.  He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina in 1995.  Upon completion, Private Gaye attended Marine Combat Training at the School of Infantry Camp Geiger, North Carolina.  He attended Military Occupational Specialty Training as a Motor Vehicle Operator (3531) at Camp Johnson, Jacksonville, North Carolina.  After Graduating from Motor Vehicle  Operators School Private First Class Gaye challenged the Logistics Vehicle System Operators Course which he subsequently passed, and was designated the follow on Military Occupational Specialty as a Logistics Vehicle System Operator (3533) before transferring to Second Force Service Support Group, 8th Motor Transportation Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. 
 
Private First Class Gaye was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal in 1996.  While assigned to 8th Motor Transport Battalion, Lance Corporal Gaye deployed to Russia for a Maritime Repositioning Ship off-load.
 
In 1997 Lance Corporal Gaye was assigned to 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, Marine Service Support Group.  During this assignment Lance Corporal Gaye was promoted to Corporal and Sergeant and worked as the Line Non Commissioned Officer in Charge.  Sergeant Gaye deployed a second time with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Saipan, USS Shreveport, and the USS Whidbey Island in support of operations Joint Forge, C6F Security Mission, Bright Star, Noble Shirley, and Infinite Moonlight.  Upon returning to Camp Lejeune Sergeant Gaye received orders to Camp, Johnson for duties as a Motor Vehicle Operator School Instructor.
 
After leaving Motor Vehicle Operators School Sergeant Gaye was transferred to Headquarters Maine Corps, Henderson Hall for duties as a Motor Vehicle Operator.  While being assigned to the National Capital Region Sergeant Gaye was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant, deployed to Iraq to help aid in the push to Baghdad, and also served in billets such as Garrison Mobile Equipment Analyst, Chief Dispatcher, Platoon Sergeant, and interviewed as the Commandant of the Marine Corps Driver.  In 2005 Staff Sergeant Gaye received orders to Second Battalion 3rd Marines in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
 
Staff Sergeant Gaye reported for duty at 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines where he served as the Regimental Motor Transport Chief, Battalion Motor Transport Chief, Convoy Commander, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Patrol Commander.  He deployed with 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines for two seven month deployments (Haditha/Fallujah).  
 
In October of 2008, Staff Sergeant Gaye reported to 9th Communication Battalion for his next assignment as the Operations Chief.  In 2009 he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant, and he later served in billets such as Company Operations Chief, Company Gunnery Sergeant, Company First Sergeant, SNCOIC / Chief instructor for Corporals Course, Battalion Uniformed Victim Advocate, and the Battalion Logistics Chief. 
 
In 2010 Gunnery Sergeant Gaye checked into 3rd Amphibious Assault Battalion for his next assignment as the Truck Platoon Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, and Convoy Commander.  Gunnery Sergeant Gaye deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and upon completion of his deployment Gunnery Sergeant Gaye reported back to 9th Communication Battalion.
 
In 2013 Gunnery Sergeant Gaye was promoted to First Sergeant and received orders to 2nd Radio Battalion for his next assignment as Headquarters and Service Company, Company A, and Company B First Sergeant.  In 2016 First Sergeant Gaye received orders to Headquarters and Support Battalion for duty as Company B First Sergeant. 
 
In November 2018 Sergeant Major Gaye was selected to his current rank and was ordered to Combat Logistics Battalion 4, Combat Logistics Regiment 3, 3rd Marine Logistics Group where he served as the Battalion Sergeant Major and Combat Logistics Regiment 3 Sergeant Major.
 
In 2021 Sergeant Major Gaye reported to Recruiting Station Atlanta to assume all duties as the RS Sergeant Major.
 
In 2023 Sergeant Major Gaye reported to The Basic School, Quantico, Virginia where he currently serves as the Sergeant Major.  
 
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
