Sergeant Major Fausto Cabrera

Sergeant Major Fausto Cabrera enlisted in the Marine Corps in October 1995 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, California (CA).  Upon completion of basic training, Private Cabrera reported to Assault Amphibian School Battalion at Camp Pendleton, CA, where he received the military occupational specialty of 1833, Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV) Crewman.  In June 1996, Private First Class Cabrera reported to 3D Assault Amphibian Battalion (AABN), Camp Pendleton, CA and was assigned as an AAV crewman.  In October 1997, Lance Corporal Cabrera deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).

  In October 1999, Sergeant Cabrera reached his end of active service and departed the Marine Corps.  In July 2000, he reenlisted in the Marine Corps.  In September 2000, Sergeant Cabrera reported to 3D AABN, Camp Pendleton, CA and was assigned as an AAV Commander and Section Leader.  In March 2001, Sergeant Cabrera deployed with the 11th MEU.

  In January 2003, Sergeant Cabrera reported to MCRD, Parris Island, South Carolina, for Drill Instructor duty.  He was assigned to Company M, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion and Special Training Company, Support Battalion.  Staff Sergeant Cabrera served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Chief Drill Instructor.

  In May 2006, Staff Sergeant Cabrera reported to 3D AABN, Camp Pendleton, CA and was assigned as an AAV Section Leader.  In April 2007, he deployed with the 13th MEU and participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom 6-8.

  In January 2008, Gunnery Sergeant Cabrera was assigned as an AAV Platoon Sergeant.  In July 2008, he deployed with the 31st MEU.  In February 2011, he deployed with the 13th MEU.

  In January 2012, First Sergeant Cabrera reported to 1st Battalion, 3d Marines, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and was assigned as the Company First Sergeant for Company B.  In December 2012, he deployed on a Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Okinawa Japan.  In February 2014, he was assigned to Headquarters and Service Company.  In June 2014, he deployed on a UDP to Okinawa Japan.

  In February 2015, First Sergeant Cabrera reported to Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry West, Camp Pendleton, CA and was assigned as the Company First Sergeant for Company B.

  In January 2016, Sergeant Major Cabrera was promoted to his current rank, reported to Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 38, Miramar, CA, and was assigned as the Squadron Sergeant Major.

  In January 2018, Sergeant Major Cabrera reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 11, Camp Pendleton, CA where he currently serves as the Battalion Sergeant Major.  In May 2019, Sergeant Major Cabrera deployed with the 11th MEU.

  Sergeant Major Cabrera’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3rd award), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3rd award).
