Sergeant Major Narvaez enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 1992. After completion of Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California he reported to the School of Infantry, Camp Pendleton, California and graduated as an 0311. In May 1993 Private Narvaez received orders to Company I 3d Battalion 6th Marines, Camp Lejeune, NC. Immediately after, he deployed with the 24th MEU to the Mediterranean Sea where he participated in Operation RESTORE HOPE, Operation CONTINUE HOPE Mogadishu Somalia and Operation DENY FLIGHT in the Adriatic Sea in support of Bosnia Herzegovina. Shortly after his return to Camp Lejeune, Lance Corporal Narvaez was redeployed to Haiti in support of Operation SEA SIGNAL and to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to conduct humanitarian assistance to Cuban refugees. In July 1996, Corporal Narvaez deployed to Okinawa on a 6 month Unit Deployment Program. While assigned to Company I 3d Battalion 6th Marines Sergeant Narvaez held the billets of Fire Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Guide and Platoon Commander. In October 1997, Sergeant Narvaez was transferred to Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 4 Cherry Point, North Carolina. During his assignment with Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 4 Staff Sergeant Narvaez deployed to Aviano Italy in support of operations in the Adriatic Sea, Kosovo, Iwakuni, Japan and Saudi Arabia. In April 2004, Staff Sergeant Narvaez was ordered to Marine Combat Instructor Duty at School of Infantry Camp Geiger, NC, where he served as Platoon Commander Hotel Company, Company Gunnery Sergeant, Tactics and Weapons Chief Instructor. In April, 2007 Gunnery Sergeant Narvaez returned to Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 3 Cherry Point, NC, for duty as the Airframes Division Chief. In March, 2008 Gunnery Sergeant Narvaez deployed for 7 months in support OIF. In January 2009 Gunnery Sergeant Narvaez was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant and was ordered to Inspector Instructor Duty MTM Co (-) 4th Maintenance Battalion, Sacramento, California. In July 2012, First Sergeant Narvaez was transferred to Marine Corps Base Hawaii, to serve as the Company First Sergeant for Company I 3d Battalion, 3d Marines 3d Marine Division. In May 2013 First Sergeant Narvaez deployed to Okinawa on a 7 month Unit Deployment Program. Sergeant Major Narvaez was selected to his present rank on November 2013 and assumed his post as the Marine Tactical Electronic Squadron 4 Sergeant Major in May 2014. While assigned to the Seahawks Sergeant Major Narvaez participated in two 6 month combat deployments in support of Air Tasking Order requirements for Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, FREEDOM’S SENTINEL and INHERENT RESOLVE. In February 2017, Sergeant Major Narvaez reported to 2d Law Enforcement Battalion Camp Lejeune, NC, as the Battalion Sergeant Major. On 8 January 2018 Sergeant Major Narvaez reported for duty as the Sergeant Major Combat Logistics Regiment 27, 2d Marine Logistics Group. On 1 December 2019 Sergeant Major Narvaez reported to his current assignment as the Sergeant Major for MATSG-21.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars in lieu of fourth award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars in lieu of forth award. Sergeant Major Narvaez is a graduate of Embry Riddle University with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics.
