Chief Warrant Officer Solla entered recruit training in August 2002 with 3rd Recruit Training Battalion at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC. In December 2002 Private First Class Solla graduated from the school of infantry where he received combat training at Camp Geiger, NC. After completing the Postal Operations Course at Fort Jackson, SC he received the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 0161 Postal Clerk and reported for duty to 3rd Force Service Support Group, Okinawa, Japan.
In October 2004, Lance Corporal Solla reported to 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, CA. In February 2005, he deployed to Iraq as an Individual Augment (IA) with 2nd Force Service Support Group (Forward), II Marine Expeditionary Force in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he provided support for all military units with mail distribution aboard Camp Blue Diamond-Ramadi, Iraq. During his tour of duty in Iraq, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Upon returning in September 2005, Corporal Solla assumed the duties as Custodian of Postal Effects for the 14 Area Post Office, Camp Pendleton.
In January 2005, Corporal Solla reported to Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Sigonella site Rota, Spain where he provided exceptional customer service at the Naval Station’s Post Office and Fleet Mail Center in support of the military and civilian community. While assigned to Naval Station Rota, he served in various postal billets and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in June 2007.
In May 2008 while still assigned to Naval Station Rota, Sergeant Solla volunteered and deployed as an IA to the Horn of Africa in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to the Camp Lemonier Post Office as Postal Effects Custodian in support of Combined Joint Task Force Djibouti, Africa. During this assignment he assisted in training and qualifying the camp’s first U.S. civilian contractor Postal Effects Custodian.
Sergeant Solla returned to Camp Pendleton in January 2009 and served as NCOIC of the Mail Distribution Facility. Again volunteering, he deployed with Marine Expeditionary Brigade in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from October 2009 to April 2010 as the NCOIC of Camp Leatherneck and Camp Dwyer Post Office, Afghanistan.
Upon his return he served as the NCOIC and Custodian of Postal Effects for the 43 Area Las Pulgas Post Office, Camp Pendleton.
From August 2011 to May 2012, Sergeant Solla deployed to the western pacific aboard the USS Makin Island (LHD-8) as the 11th MEU Postal Chief. His duties included submitting Mail Routing Instructions to the United States Postal Service to route all mail for Marine Units participating in the 11th MEU deployment from CONUS to USS Makin Island, USS New Orleans, and USS Pearl Harbor. He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in February 2012.
Staff Sergeant Solla returned to the Post Office as a QA/QC Postal Inspector and later as the SNCOIC of the Postal Supply Section.
In January 2014, Staff Sergeant Solla reported to Warrant Officer Basic Course at The Basic School, Quantico, VA. He was appointed to the rank of Warrant Officer and upon completion, he reported to Headquarters and Service Battalion, Camp Smedley D. Butler where he served as the Postal Operations Officer for Marine Corps Installations Pacific.
In June 2015, Warrant Officer Solla transferred to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan serving as the Installation Postal Officer and was promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2. During this tour he accepted and established a new Post Office during a doubling of the Air Station’s population.
In August 2018, Chief Warrant Officer Solla reported as Director to the U.S. Army Adjutant General School, Interservice Postal Training Activity, Fort Jackson, SC and was promoted to his current rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3.
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Third Award) and Joint Meritorious Unit Award.
