Lieutenant Colonel Jake J. "SAC" Hubbard

Jake J. Hubbard, a native of Stevens Point Wisconsin, attended Officer Candidate School through the Platoon Leaders Class program with Charlie Company, OCC-189 in the summer of 2005 and received his commission as a Second Lieutenant on 1 February 2006. 2ndLt Hubbard executed orders to Delta Company BOC 4-06 in June 2006.

 

2ndLt Hubbard attended Air Intelligence Officers Course 1-07 in January 2007, earning the MOS 0207, Air Intelligence Officer. In May, 2ndLt Hubbard reported to Third Marine Aircraft Wing, Miramar, CA, transferring the next month to Marine Aircraft Group-11 to serve as the MAG S-2A. While at MAG-11, 2ndLt Hubbard attended Weapons and Tactics Instructors Course 1-08, and earned the MOS 0277. On 1 February 2008, 2ndLt Hubbard promoted to First Lieutenant. In March 2008, 1stLt Hubbard assumed the duties of Intelligence Officer for VMFA-323 and the Strike Watch Officer for Carrier Air Wing-9, Carrier Strike Group-3. With the squadron until June 2010, 1stLt Hubbard deployed aboard the USS JOHN C. STENNIS for a classic "WESTPAC" tour, conducting Theater Security Cooperation Missions throughout the Pacific theater. On 1 March 2010, 1stLt Hubbard promoted to Captain.

 

In June 2010, Captain Hubbard accepted an invitation to join the staff of the U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School (aka "TOPGUN"), where he served as the TOPGUN Staff Intelligence Officer, the Navy and Marine Corps Subject-Matter Expert on Threat Integrated Air Defense Systems, and supported Carrier Air Wing training events. While at TOPGUN, Captain Hubbard completed the Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program, earning "Distinguished Graduate" honors. At the end of that tour, the Commandant's Career-Level Education Board selected Captain Hubbard to attend the resident Expeditionary Warfare School program in Quantico, VA.

 

In June 2014, Captain Hubbard checked into 2d Intelligence Bn, Camp Lejeune, NC, where he was assigned as S-3A. On 1 February 2015, Captain Hubbard deployed to Germany for six months as Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Africa’s Operations Liaison Officer to Marine Forces, Africa. On September 11 2015, he assumed command of 2d Intelligence Battalion’s Battlespace Surveillance Company. On March 1, 2016, Captain Hubbard promoted to Major.

 

In July 2016, Major Hubbard checked into Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron-One in Yuma, Arizona, assuming the duties of Intelligence Department Head, where he led a program that graduated 105 Intelligence Weapons and Tactics Instructors over three years. During this time, Major Hubbard completed the USMC Command and Staff Distance Education Program. At the end of that tour, Major Hubbard was selected to study at the USN Naval War College.

 

Major Hubbard checked into 2d Marine Aircraft Wing in July 2020 and assumed the duties of G-2 Operations Officer. In August 2021, he ascended to the position of Wing Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence (AC/S G-2). He promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on January 1, 2022, before deploying his entire G-2 team to Exercise Cold Response 22 in Norway. While there, he forward-deployed in support of NATO Assurance and Deterrence missions as the Task Force Baltic Watchtower Chief of Staff, in Siauliai, Lithuania. In December 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Hubbard was selected to attend Top Level School at the USAF Air War College.

 

In June 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Hubbard assumed command of Marine Corps Detachment – Presidio of Monterey.

Lieutenant Colonel Hubbard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Arts degree with Honors in Military History from American Military University. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Maritime History as well as a Master of Arts degree with Highest Distinction in Defense and Strategic Studies, both from the Naval War College, and a Master of Arts degree with Distinction in Strategic Studies from the Air War College.
