Sergeant Major Edward Hebron

Sergeant Major Edward L. Hebron Jr. was born in Roanoke, Virginia, in 1974.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps in December of 1993.  He completed recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, SC in March of 1994.  During April of 1994, he was promoted to the rank of Private First Class.  He completed Marine Combat Training (MCT) in July of 1994. 

Following MCT, he attended Motor Transport School at Camp Johnson, NC. 

 

In August of 1994, SgtMaj Hebron was transferred to 8th Motor Transportation Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC as a Logistics Vehicle System Operator.  During February of 1995, he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal and later promoted to the rank of Corporal in March of 1996.

 

In June of 1996, he was transferred to 9th Engineer Support Battalion, Okinawa, Japan as the Vehicle Coordinator for the S-4 shop.  During March of 1997, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

 

In June of 1997, SgtMaj Hebron was transferred to 11TH Marines, Camp Pendleton, CA as the Platoon Sergeant, and the On Vehicle Equipment (OVE) Noncommissioned Officer (NCO).  During this tour, he attended the Sergeants’ course.

 

In January of 2000, he transferred to 12th Marine Regiment, Okinawa, Japan and was assigned as the Platoon Sergeant. 

 

In May of 2000, SgtMaj Hebron was transferred to 7th Engineer Support Battalion as the OVE NCO and Truck Master.  In October of 2001, he was transferred to 1st Transportation Support Battalion as the Platoon Sergeant.  In October of 2001, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

 

In January of 2003, SgtMaj Hebron was transferred to Drill Instructor Duty at MCRD, Parris Island, SC, where he graduated as the Honor Graduate in his class.  He was assigned to 1st Battalion, Delta Company where he held the billets of Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor.  During this tour, he went to Quantico, Va. and attended the Marine Corp Martial Arts Program and later became a Martial Arts Instructor-Trainer. 

 

In May of 2006, SgtMaj Hebron was transferred to General Support Company, Camp Lejeune, NC as the Platoon Sergeant.  In September of 2006, he transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Transportation Support Company, Camp Lejeune, NC as the Platoon Sergeant.  During this tour, he deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Platoon Commander and Convoy Commander for 4th platoon. 

 

Sergeant Major Hebron was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in September 2007 and later attended the SNCO’s Advance course. 

 

In August of 2008, SgtMaj Hebron deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Transportation Support Company, Camp Lejeune, NC. 

 

In April of 2009, SgtMaj Hebron transferred to MCCSSS, Camp Johnson, NC as the Operational Instructor Team Leader.  He held the billets of Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC) and License SNCOIC for the Operational Instructor Team. 

 

In January of 2010, SgtMaj Hebron was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant and transferred to 2d Battalion, 10th Marines, Battery F, Camp Lejeune, NC where he held the billet of a Battery First Sergeant.  During this tour, he was TAD’d to Regimental Combat Team-8 Advisor Team, Camp Lejeune, NC for a period of 18 months, where he deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom as the S-1 Administrative Officer, Senior Enlisted Advisor and Machine Gunner in Delaram II, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.  He later attended the First Sergeant’s course and the Seminar.

 

In June of 2012, SgtMaj Hebron was transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 4, Engineer Services Company, Okinawa, Japan as the Company First Sergeant. 

 

In January of 2013, he was transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 4, Transportation Services Company, Okinawa, Japan as the Company First Sergeant. 

 

In August of 2013, SgtMaj Hebron was transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 4, Headquarters and Service Company, Okinawa, Japan as the Company First Sergeant.  During this tour, he attended the Senior Enlisted PME at Quantico, Va.

 

 

In July of 2014, he was transferred to Combat Logistics Regiment 3, Headquarters Company, Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Regimental Sergeant Major in his absence and the Headquarters Company First Sergeant.

 

In April of 2015, he was transferred to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, SC where he served as the Squadron Sergeant Major.

 

In March of 2018, Sergeant Major Hebron reported to his current duty as the Battalion Sergeant Major of Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-East.

 

Sergeant Major Hebron’s personal awards include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, Army Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal with one silver and two bronze stars, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and the Marine Corps Drill Instructor Ribbon.
