Lieutenant Colonel Christian M. Kelley

LtCol Chris Kelley graduated from Sul Ross State University in December 1997, where he received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Law.  He enlisted into the Marine Corps Reserve in May 1998.  After graduating from boot camp and the School of Infantry, PFC Kelley was assigned to Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marines aboard Camp Mabry in Austin, TX as an Infantry Anti-Tank Assaultman (0351).

 

  • January 1999:  In January 1999 he attended Officer Candidates Course and earned his commission as a Second Lieutenant on 2 April 1999.  After completion of TBS, 2ndLt Kelley attended Aviation Maintenance Officer School at NAS Pensacola, FL.

     

  • January 2000:  2ndLt Kelley reported to his first duty assignment, MALS-12 MCAS Iwakuni, Japan in January 2000 and served as the Ground Support Equipment OIC.

     

  • January 2001:  2ndLt Kelley executed orders to MCAS Miramar, San Diego, CA in January 2001 and was assigned to VMFA-314 where he served as the Maintenance/Material Control Officer.  In November 2001 he deployed aboard the USS John C. Stennis (Carrier Air Group 9) in support of OEF.  He deployed a second time aboard the USS Carl Vinson (Carrier Air Group 9) in January 2003.  He was promoted to Captain in August 2003.

     

  • November 2003:  Capt Kelley reported to VMGR-352 in November 2003 serving as the Maintenance/Material Control Officer.  During this time he assisted in the transition from the KC-130 F/R model to the new KC-130 J model. 

  • May 2005:  Capt Kelley reported to Recruiting Station Seattle, 12th Marine Corps Recruiting District in May 2005 serving as Officer Selection Officer Seattle covering Western Washington State. 

  • July 2008:  Capt Kelley returned to MCAS Miramar San Diego, CA in July 2008 serving as Deputy Installation and Logistics.  He was promoted to Major in July 2009 and reported to MALS-11 that same month serving as the Operations Officer.  In 2010 he deployed to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan in serving as the MALS-16 FWD Operations Officer.  Upon re-deployment he served the MALS-11 Executive Officer. 

  • February 2011:  Maj Kelley reported to the 6th Marine Corps Recruiting District at MCRD Parris Island, SC in February 2011 where he served as the Assistant for Officer Procurement.

     

  • July 2014:  Maj Kelley reported to U. S. Africa Command Stuttgart, Germany in July 2014 and was assigned to the Joint Training Readiness and Exercises Division where he served as the ACCORD Series Lead Exercise Planner.  He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in June 2016 and assumed duties as the Joint/Combined Exercises Chief.

     

  • July 2017 – Present:  MATSG-23 Executive Officer.

 

Personal Decorations: Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (second award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (third award).
