Executive Officer
Captain Marvin R. DiazEscobar

Captain DiazEscobar enlisted in the Marine Corps on 30 August 1999.  After graduating from boot camp, Marine Combat Training, and Ground Supply School, Private First Class DiazEscobar was stationed in Okinawa, Japan with Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Marine Headquarters Group (MHG). While at 3rd MHG, Private First Class DiazEscobar Performed the duties as a range coach.  During this tour, Private First Class DiazEscobar was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal.

 

In April 2001, Lance Corporal DiazEscobar executed orders to 9th Communication Battalion (Comm Bn), Camp Pendleton, California. While with 9th Comm Bn, Lance Corporal DiazEscobar worked the Mechanized Allowance List, Consolidated Memorandum Records and Due And Status File Sections.  During this period Lance Corporal DiazEscobar was promoted to Corporal and deployed to Camp Commando, Kuwait for four months in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.   

 

In May 2003, Corporal DiazEscobar executed orders to 5th Battalion, 14 Marine Regiment where he served as the fiscal Non-commissioned Officer. While with 5th Battalion, he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 2007 he was accepted to the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP).

 

In August 2008, Staff Sergeant DiazEscobar attended California State University San Marcos and completed the 2009 summer session of Officer Candidate School and shortly after transferred to the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). In the fall of 2011 he graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and a minor in Geographic Information Systems.  He was commissioned on 15 December 2011 and attended The Basic School in June 2012.

 

In January 2013, Second Lieutenant DiazEscobar attended the Basic Qualification Course for Supply Officers in New Port, Rhode Island, successfully earning the 6602 MOS.

 

In June 2013, Second Lieutenant DiazEscobar executed orders to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 36 for duty and was assigned as the Supply Accounting Division (SAD), Supply Response Division (SRD), Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Officer In Charge (OIC) and Assistant Operations OIC.  Second Lieutenant DiazEscobar was promoted to First Lieutenant on December 15, 2013. At the end of his tour, he was transferred to his current command, Marine Aviation Training Support Squadron One (MATSS-1), and promoted to Captain in August 2016 where he performed the duties of the Executive Officer.   

 

Captain DiazEscobar assumed command of MATSS-1 from 17 November 2016 to 10 March 2017. After successfully transferring command, he assumed the duties as the Executive Officer once again.

 

His personal Awards include a Global War on Terrorism Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, (4) Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, (5) Sea Service Deployment Ribbons and a Meritorious Mast.
