Eric Hoffman enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1999. Private First Class Hoffman received his initial training at MCRD Parris Island, S.C. and Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, N.C. In January of 2000 he started training as a Marine Corps weather observer at Keesler Air Force Base Biloxi, M.S. and upon graduation he reported to H&HS at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Okinawa, Japan to be a weather observer. After 11 months, he reported to Keesler Air Force Base Biloxi, M.S. for Meteorological and Oceanographic Analyst/Forecaster School. Upon graduation Sgt Hoffman reported to MCAS New River and was attached to MWSS 272.
In 2003, Sergeant Hoffman was sent TAD to US CENTCOM where he was then sent to Shaw Air Force Base in support for Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2004 Sergeant Hoffman returned to MCAS New River where he forecasted for the remainder of his enlistment.
In December 2006, Sergeant Hoffman attended St. Bonaventure University earning his degree in Sociology. Sergeant Hoffman graduated Officer Candidate School in March 2007 and reported to The Basic School (TBS) in April of that year.
From April 2007 to October 2007 Second Lieutenant Hoffman attended TBS. After graduating from TBS Second Lieutenant Hoffman was transferred to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 26 aboard MCAS New River, NC where he did on the job training as the Consumable (CMD) and Repairable (RMD) Officer in Charge. Second Lieutenant Hoffman attended the Basic Qualification Course in Athens, Georgia in 2008 where he graduated second. After BQC school he returned to MALS-29 where he became the Supply Response Division Officer and also was given the opportunity to be the MALS-DET OIC on the 22 MEU. In 2009 1st Lieutenant Hoffman deployed with VMM-263 on the 22nd MEU. In 2010 he returned to MALS-29 and became the SSD/SAD OIC before PCSing to COMNAVAIRLANT. From 2010-2013 Captain Hoffman was the Readiness Officer, Integrated Logistics Officer, and Deputy to the N416 at COMNAVAIRLANT (CNAL). While he was with CNAL Captain Hoffman completed EWS and CSC Distance Education Programs. In 2014 he was selected to the Commandants Career Level Education Board and was selected to the Resident Expeditionary Warfare School. In 2014 Captain Hoffman graduated from the Resident Expeditionary Warfare School and received orders to MALS-16. In June 2014, Captain Hoffman arrived to MCAS Miramar, MALS-16 and became the Aviation Supply Officer. Major Hoffman became the Commanding Officer of Marine Aviation Training Support Squadron One in March 2017.
His personal Awards include a Global War on Terrorism Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, (3) Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, (2) Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, Certificate of Commendation, and a Meritorious Mast.
