SERGEANT MAJOR JASON E HANEY

Jason E. Haney reported to Parris Island, South Carolina, K-3086, for recruit training on June 18 1992. Upon completion of recruit training, Marine Combat Training, and Infantry Training, Private First Class Haney reported to Marine Corps Security Force School, Chesapeake Virginia and was subsequently assigned to Marine Barracks Naples, Italy. While assigned to the barracks, Private First Class Haney was assigned to the drill and ceremony platoon and held the billets as Corporal and Sergeant of the Guard.

In January 1995, Corporal Haney reported to Scout Platoon, 1st Tank Battalion, 29 Palms California, and served as Section Leader and Chief Scout. He participated in JTF 6 operations in both 1995 and 1996 as well as Operation Hydra Strike and Mountain Nomad in 1996 and 1997. Corporal Haney attended the Infantry Squad Leaders Course Class 1-96 and Sergeants Course 2-97. He was promoted to Sergeant in November 1996.

In October 1997, Sergeant Haney reported to Recruiters School Class 1-98 MCRD, San Diego California. He served both as a canvassing recruiter and Non Commissioned Officer in Charge of Recruiting Sub Station Springfield, Massachusetts. He was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in July 1999.

In May 2001, Staff Sergeant Haney reported to Lima Company, 3d Battalion 5th Marine Regiment, Camp Pendleton, California. He deployed as a Platoon Sergeant on the 31st MEU in 2002. Upon return from the MEU he was assigned as Platoon Commander, 1st Platoon, Company L, and in January 2003, deployed in that capacity for the invasion of Iraq. He led his platoon through two months of uninterrupted combat before turning his platoon over and once again assuming duties as the platoon sergeant.

Promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in December 2003, he reported to Inspector Instructor Staff, Buffalo, New York, and assumed duties as Operations Chief and Company Gunnery Sergeant for India Company, 3d Battalion 25th Marines. Gunnery Sergeant Haney deployed a second time to Iraq in January 2005, to the cities of Hit, Haditha, and Al Qaim. He participated in Operation River Sweep and the assaults on the cities of Hit and Haditha.

In December 2006, he was frocked to First Sergeant and reported to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, Camp Pendleton California. In October, 2008, First Sergeant Haney deployed to Al Asad, Iraq with Bravo Company, 1st CEB. During this deployment he participated in numerous IED clearing missions on routes throughout the AO as well as interdiction missions around Mosul. He deployed in October 2010 to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, participating in Operation Rawhide II and other named operations. He deployed once again to Afghanistan in April 2012 to Camp Leatherneck and conducted numerous mounted patrols across the AO.

Promoted to Sergeant Major in March 2013, he was assigned as Squadron Sergeant Major to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 469 in Camp Pendleton, California. In September 2014, he was transferred to Second Law Enforcement Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for duty as Battalion Sergeant Major. In March 2017, he was transferred to his current position as Sergeant Major, Marine Corps Engineer School, and Area Sergeant Major, Courthouse Bay, Camp Lejeune, NC.
