The Marine Corps Water Survival School (MCWSS) serves to train Marines and Sailors to perform duties as Marine Corps Instructors of Water Survival (MCIWS). MCWSS also acts as the center for resolution of all water survival training issues and the management of the water survival training program.

STUDENT REPORTING PROCEDURES

Use of government quarters and messing is directed, if available. Travel claims including full per diem or commercial billeting will be rejected without a letter of non-availability.

Billeting arrangements are the responsibility of the student.

Students should attend the school on funded orders.

E-6 and above contact the BOQ 910-451-2146/1835 for room availability.

E-5 and below should contact the school at 910-450-0061/0909 for room availability. If checking in on the weekend or after regular business hours, report to the CDO Bldg M130 for BEQ room issue.

Reporting for class:

  • Report to Bldg M139 (Training Tank) at 0600 on the convening date of the class.

  • Bring: Prescreening Checklist (NAVMC 11627), TAD orders, ID card, goggles, and swim trunks for males or one-piece swim suit for females.

  • The first training event is a confirmation of the prescreening requirements.

Military PT clothing will be worn for periods of classroom instruction; however, appropriate uniforms should be available in case it becomes necessary to go to other areas of the base.

Personnel who do not meet ALL prerequisites will not be enrolled in the course and will be returned to their parent command.

Registration Instructions

For registration to enroll in any Career Progression level course, please contact Mrs. Monica Knowles at monica.knowles@usmc.mil or by phone at (910)450-1087.  For students that are not local to the Camp Lejeune area and require TECOM Funding, the cut-off date to secure funding is 3 weeks prior to the convene date of the class.  To ensure a timely registration, submit as early as possible but no later than 5 weeks prior.  For the most up to date information on class date changes or cancellations, please contact Mrs. Knowles.

Entry Level Students checking into Financial Management School during normal working hours should report to Entry Level Receiving located at Building M132 aboard Camp Johnson (the third building on the left after passing through the main gate co-located with H&S Company). After normal working hours report in person to the Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools (MCCSSS OOD) at Bldg. M131, Camp Johnson, (the first building on the right after passing through the main gate). All personnel will report in the Service Alpha uniform.

Permanent Personnel and Advanced Students will report directly to Financial Management School located on the second deck of building M79 during working hours in the Service Alpha uniform. For afterhours reporting, report to the MCCSSS OOD in building M131, Camp Johnson. (The first building on the right after passing through the main gate).

Uniform/Equipment Requirements Students should bring appropriate Service uniforms. Students will report in the Service "A" uniform. Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform (MCCUU) will be worn for all periods of instruction. Service "B" or “C” uniforms, depending on the season, will be worn on the first Friday of every month. The uniform for graduation is the uniform of the day for that day. PT gear (green/green) is also required as is sweats, and the Marine Corps running suit.

Billeting Government quarters are available for all enlisted students. Sergeants and Corporals will be billeted in Barracks M448, at no cost. SNCO’s and Officers will be billeted in the BOQ/SNCO quarters and will be charged for billeting. Contact Ms. Mary Cantu for reservations at 910-450-0066. If billeting is not available ensure you receive a statement of non-availability prior to making reservations for commercial lodging. If you have any problems with these facilities, bring them to the attention of your faculty advisor immediately.

Messing is available for all enlisted students. SNCOs and officers on TDY orders from outside the local area will receive per diem based on billeting location or as directed on orders. FMS does not issue non-availability statements for messing.

Parking POVs and rental vehicles will be parked in the lot located behind the softball field adjacent to M79 or the parking lot adjacent to building M131 beside the flagpole. Parking in any other areas is not permitted.

Location

Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools is located aboard Camp Johnson. The entrance to Camp Johnson is located off of the Highway 17 bypass. To gain entrance from the northbound side of highway 17, follow the Camp Johnson exit after the large bypass bridge. If coming from the southbound side of highway 17, take the exit toward Camp Lejeune and make a right towards the Beirut/Montford Point memorial. When you reach the first traffic light, make a left and go over the small bridge to Camp Johnson.

From I-40

Take exit 364 (Hwy 24 East) towards Kenansville
Follow Hwy 24 into Jacksonville to Camp Johnson

From I-95

Exit on Hwy 70 East in Selma, NC
In Kinston, NC, take Hwy 258 East towards Jacksonville, NC
Hwy 58 will merge with Hwy 24 East which leads to Camp Johnson

From Hwy 17

Follow to Jacksonville, NC, where you will pick up Hwy 24 East which leads to Camp Johnson
