MISSION

The Marine Detachment at Dam Neck Naval Annex, Virginia, provides both basic and advanced intelligence skill training and education for officers and Marines in preparation for duties as intelligence professionals at every echelon of the Marine Air Ground Task Force, the Joint Force, and the National Intelligence Community.

Located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, MARDET Dam Neck is part of Marine Corps Intelligence Schools and produces Intelligence and Ground Sensor Emplacement Marines; develops superior Marine intelligence professionals through adult learning approaches, modern technology and innovative instructional methods and delivers resilient Marines capable of providing information needed to win across all warfighting domains in the Fleet Marine Force.  

The MARDET offers fifteen (15) formal Programs of Instruction through more than sixty (60) course sessions per year with a student throughput of approximately 1200 Marines, Sailors, and Department of Defense and Interagency civilians annually. With one hundred twenty five (125) Marines, Sailors, and civilian staff members, the MARDET is also responsible with providing headquarters and service support to higher echelon Marine Corps Intelligence Schools and USMC Training Command. Once trained in their intelligence specialty, MARDET Dam Neck graduates join the Fleet Marine Force where new intelligence professionals will serve throughout the world in garrison, at sea, and forward deployed
