A native of Chesterfield, Virginia, LtCol Pearson enlisted in the Marine Corps on December 23, 1991 and attended boot camp at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation from boot camp, Private Pearson was ordered to Twenty Nine Palms, California, where he attended the Air Control Electronic Operators Course (ACEOC).
In November 1992, Private First Class Pearson completed ACEOC School and reported to Marine Air Control Squadron 24 in Virginia Beach, Virginia and served as an Air Control Electronics Operator. In 1993 he deployed to Norway in support of Battle Griffin.
In June 1995, Sergeant Pearson transferred to VMFA-142 at Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Florida and was assigned to the Operations Department as the Safety/NATOPS NCOIC. He remained at VMFA-142 until December 1997 and assisted in the BRAC relocation of VMFA-142 to NAS Atlanta.
During his assignment to VMFA-142 he attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. He graduated in December 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science.
In October 1999, Staff Sergeant Pearson reported to Officer Candidate School followed by The Basic School in January 2000. Upon completion of The Basic School, 2nd Lt Pearson reported to Pensacola, Florida for Primary Flight Instruction followed by Intermediate and Advanced Jet Training in Meridian, Mississippi. In April 2003 he reported to VMAT-203 for training in the AV-8B. In December 2005 he completed the Aircraft Maintenance Officer’s (AMO) course in Milton, Florida and was redesignated as a 6002, Aircraft Maintenance Officer.
In January 2006, Captain Pearson was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39 (MALS-39), MCAS Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as the Assistance Aircraft Maintenance Officer. In June 2008 he deployed to Yuma, Arizona as the AMO for Desert Talon in preparation for OIF 8.2. In July 2008, Captain Pearson deployed in support of operation IRAQI FREEDOM with MALS-16 and served as the Production Control Officer aboard Al Asad Airbase. Upon returning from Iraq until August 2009 he held the billet of Quality Assurance Officer at MALS-39.
In August 2009, Major Pearson was assigned to the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Marine Unit New River where he served as the Executive Officer until June 2012 when he transferred to MALS-29 where he served as both the Operations Officer and Executive Officer. In July 2014, Major Pearson reported to Fleet Readiness Center East aboard MCAS Cherry Point where he served as both the F-35B Deputy Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead/Program Officer and the IPT lead.
In July of 2017 LtCol Pearson reported to Fleet Marine Force Atlantic U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command where he served as the Aircraft Maintenance Officer until July of 2020 when he reported to Marine Aviation Training Support Group-23 where he currently serves as the Executive Officer.
