Executive Officer, Officer Candidates School
Lieutenant Colonel Courtney J. Boston

Lieutenant Colonel Courtney J. Boston is from Trinity, Texas. He was awarded an athletic scholarship to play football at Sam Houston State University and went on to be inducted into the University’s Hall of Fame for both football and track. First starting a career as a teacher and coach at Huntsville High School, Lieutenant Colonel Boston answered the call to enter the United States Marine Corps. After graduating The Basic School and The Field Artillery Basic Officer’s Course, he was designated as a Field Artillery Officer. Lieutenant Colonel Boston’s Fleet Marine Force assignments have been with Battery I, 10th Marines deploying to Fallujah, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and again to Helmand Providence, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He has served with 2d Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment deploying to Okinawa Japan as the Battalion Fire Support Officer with 3d Battalion, 5th Marines before assuming the duties as Commanding Officer, Headquarters Battery, 11th Marine Regiment. He also served as the Operations Officer, 3d Battalion, 12th Marines, and Assistant Operations Officers for 12th Marine Regiment. Lieutenant Colonel Boston’s supporting establishment assignments include tours at The
Basic School, to instruct Land Navigation, Fire Support, and Staff Platoon Commander for Golf Company 7-11. He also served as the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer for Combat Instructor Company, Master Instructor, leading Instructor Education Program, TBS Diversity Working Group, and the Enlisted Instructor Certification Program. In 2019, Lieutenant Colonel Boston was selected as the Recruiting Station Commanding Officer in Houston Texas. There he directed all enlisted and officer recruiting efforts, leading the station to its first Recruiting Station of the Year honors in the Western Recruiting Region. Lieutenant Colonel Boston currently serves as the Executive Officer of Officer Candidate School. Lieutenant Colonel Boston’s professional military education incudes Expeditionary Warfare School (with distinction), MATWS Weapons Tactics Instructor Course, Tactical MAGTF Integration Course (with distinction) and obtaining the additional MOS of 0577 Operations and Tactics Instructor, and Marine Corps Command and Staff College (Distance Education Program). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Sam Houston State University. Lieutenant Colonel Boston’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, and a V for valor, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
