Purpose: The purpose of the Unit Readiness Planning Course (URPC) is to train Marine Corps personnel involved in the Unit Readiness Planning (URP) process allowing them to effectively and efficiently plan, execute, manage, coordinate, assess, and report unit training in accordance with Marine Corps doctrine, orders, references, and automated capabilities to optimize combat readiness.
Scope: This course provides the knowledge and skills required for commanders and unit training managers to systematically plan, conduct, and evaluate unit training. This course includes instruction in the development of the Mission Essential Task List (METL), long range, mid range and short range training plans, as well as training schedules. Additionally, students will learn how to develop Letters of Instruction (LOIs) and Training Support Requests (TSRs). This course will also cover how to coordinate and conduct unit training and how to prepare trainers and evaluators. Evaluation of unit training is an essential task covered by addressing commander's training assessment and assessing individual and collective proficiency. Students will also become familiar with the Systems Approach to Training (SAT); Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate (ADDIE) model and how it applies within the context of URP. Students will work with all relevant orders, references, publications, and URP tools. Graduates of this course will gain a clear understanding of standards based training and the URP process, preparing them for duties as an operations officer, operations chief, or unit trainer.

Target Audience:
The Target Population Description is Staff Sergeant through Lieutenant Colonel and civilian equivalents that perform URP functions in an academic or operational organization, as well as training personnel who are involved with Train the Trainer (T3) integration.
Course Length: 5 Training days / 5 Calendar Days taught in residence at T3S Detachment East and via Mobile Training Team (MTT)
