Mission Statement:  Provide command, control, and administrative functions as are necessary for the discipline, morale, welfare, and academic success of personnel assigned to the Marine Corps Detachment, Defense Language Institute. Coordinate and facilitate language training for Marines attending the Defense Language Institute in order to provide linguistically-proficient Marines to the operating forces and supporting establishment.

Just Another Day In Paradise
On 12 February, 2016 the Marine Corps Detachment participated in an eight mile log run on the beach in Monterey, Ca to build camaraderie and challenge themselves both physically and mentally.

Community Involvement
PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. -- The joint service color guard and service marching units from Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center led the parade that kicked off Pacific Grove's 59th Annual Good Old Days Festival in downtown Pacific Grove, April 9. Free meals were provided to active duty military at the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce tent. The two-day event is the largest arts and craft festival in the county and drew an estimated 35,000 - 45,000 people to "America's Last Hometown." -Steven L.
