The purpose of this course is to provide the training necessary to serve as a Vehicle Commander in a Reserve Assault Amphibian unit. Reserve Vehicle Commander's will perform various duties incident to the operation and maintenance of Amphibious Assault Vehicles and Assault Amphibian Sections. The RVCC prepares Marines for the tactical employment of troops and equipment during ship-to-shore movement and subsequent operations ashore. This course introduces the Reserve Vehicle Commander (RVC) to the responsibilities for all vehicles associated collateral equipment in an Assault Amphibian Section/Platoon. The RVC will be trained to employ AA unit in water-borne operations, and tactical movements of an Assault Amphibian Section. The course will train the students to serve as advisors to supporting units on training, welfare, administrative functions and tactical employment of their respective units. The time on the ramp, in the water, and in the field exercise are used to reinforce the classroom instruction. Once the student has graduated both the Reserve Vehicle Commander Course, and the Reserve Gunnery Course they will be identified as having fulfilled the requirements for a Vehicle Commander.
